After seeing the post below where a 'newbie' was 'called out' for not introducing himself I started thinking. My registration number is 1612. I have had the same moniker for years. Maybe the latest newbie, POLAR, could share his number with us all. The point is that there are maybe a dozen or so of regulars who know each other and hang together at times. That would be way less than 1% of registered members. Now these 1% think that they should rule the forum because they chose to give up their anonymity. HOGWASH!!!

Now I know personally of five 'lurkers' who read the forum almost every day, if not everyday. (BTW- you guys provide lots of fodder for some good belly laughs when we hang out) I have to assume that others know lurkers too. So I am going to use VERY conservative numbers. Lets say 2000 registered with one lurker each. That is 4000 sets of eyeballs on a regular basis that view this page. Of that 4000 the few 'outed' members think they should rule, everybody has to follow their example and out themselves too. HA HA!!

Bruce has the ability to require a registration process that verifies the identity of EVERY member. He could even make that info available to other registered users. He hasn't. In fact, if my info is correct, he has REPEATEDLY refused to do so. I can see why. He is a smart guy. If he were to do this he would keep the dozen or so and loose the thousands. He seems to understand that folks come to places like this to express or to just read the unfettered opinions of others. Without anonymity you don't get that. What you get is a lot of grandstanding and pontification of the few, slapping each other on the back, ^5's and just generally useless drivel. Not interesting to anyone but the few. For anyone to claim or even think they are better than others based on whether or not someone chooses to 'out' themselves, just shows the arrogance of the few, and possibly the fact that they have no idea how capitalism works. It wasn't that long ago that NO REGISTRATION was required. Some whined and cried to Bruce till he finally instituted the current registration process. It has solved NOTHING. Lakeman still has no clue who I am, who Burran was/is, but he is still obsessed with attempting to 'put me down' and humiliate me at every opportunity. How's that working out for you lakeman?

Speaking of lakeman, that brings me to the psycho factor. It is a FACT that thousand read this forum without ever registering or posting. Statistics tell us that AT LEAST one of lurkers would turn out to be psycho, and at least one registered user. If your personal info is here for all to see/know, then you are at risk. One never knows what may send someone over the edge. What one may post as an innocent comment may be just what the psycho needs to have him start listening to the 'voices in his head', track down the poster and go 'lakeman' on him/her.

I for one (like thousands of others) will continue on with the status quo. I know that those that matter don't mind, and those that mind don't matter.

POLAR, and any other newbies, do not be intimidated into giving up ANY personal info you don't feel comfortable broadcasting to the world. As has been shown recently, it may posted and used against you.

I have been on this forum since the days of Lamar, etc. It was ugly then and is about as bad now. Man this stuff is just not that important. Lets go back to the good old days of blasting the power company and joking around. You are getting way too serious again.

The constant harassment and character assassination is getting very old. I have offered more to this forum than any of the ones that seek to discredit me simply because I chose to remain anonymous. So be it, but nobody should at this late date be surprised when I break out the 'poison pen'. EVERY time lakeman comes at me, it will be the same result. But of course, lakeman aka brother billy, can and has NEVER done any wrong because he only attacks and insults me, and I don't matter. OH WELL, all I can say is quit b!tching at me when I lash out in defense cuz all that does is provide more fodder for me to respond to, and I will respond. Always have, always will. Don't like, stay away.

You are right .. You don't matter, to quote a famous newsman " you are nothing but a hash mark on the under pants of society "

....that proves my point. Why would someone choose to lower themselves to that level of attack. It just shows YOUR immaturity. I will debate on any issue, but when the first response is to call names and compare to 'skid marks' really elevates the debate now doesn't it. But don't forget, I AM THE SOURCE OF ALL NEGATIVITY AND ATTACKS ON THE FORUM.

Its all my fault. I take the blame for jr's post too. He is a victim of me posting facts. That ALWAYS causes certain types to whig out. I know this so I should NOT have posted. I am to blame.

I guess I am a newbie to this forum (two years) although I have been visiting Lake Martin since the late 1940's. The forum provides me with a way to keep up with happenings at the lake since I am still a wage slave and don't live there permanently, yet.

A humorous dig at another poster is always worthwhile. However, many of the ad hominem attacks I read here seem less than witty and quite immature.

Some of you I would like to meet, someday.

If you are talking to Tallyman, I am not Jim Upchurch and I don't know what, if any, number I have been assigned.

Ok, I didn't honestly think you would give yourself away.

And CAT, unless your CAT BOAT account is different than your business account, you have a business ID and not a personal ID...

I had other aliases BEFORE changing to this one. OMG I admitted to the cardinal sin, in febs world anyway. The difference here is I do admit to having multiples ID's in the PAST. Some here still do today. But just like advertising, it is OK with feb if he knows you. You see feb is the conscious and soul of the forum. He recently gave up the job of 'forum police', but only AFTER his hypocrisy was pointed out publicly several times and it came to light that HE was the ONLY one who cared a hoot about the 'issue'.

Number 3933. What does that make me? A newcomer I guess. In 1963 my little Butt got torn up by a Yellow Jackets nest about 6 feet from the water. I grew up on this lake way before there was such a thing as a Forum.

I enjoy the Forum and hope to learn who's who as time goes on. I will personally try not to respond to those full of pi$$ and vinegar.

Let's talk football or music or fishing or BBQ or anything pleasant. That's my take!

Wow, That is a low number. You must of been on the Forum prior to 2001. I do not know how to do it, but someone mentioned offline you can trace not only the alias but the actual name if they have your ID Number. I do not know if this is true or not. Some of us do not care, but some may prefer it otherwise. I guess someone could play Russian Roulette with various numbers and obtain a few idenities. ???

Someone help me out here if I am in total error. I hope what I heard was bad info. ????

Knowing how to do that could be useful information.
