I would like to possibly make it to montgomery for lunch if there is a place on the river where we can get some. What do you all think?

The only place I know that has food is Montgomery Marina, but I am not sure if they are open on weekends for lunch. Harry's bar sometimes has food on Sunday's, but I wouldn't eat it.
Most people bring sandwiches and snacks. Sometimes a lot of us get together and grill out on the sandbar. I left a portable grill on the sandbar a month or so ago and as of 2 weeks ago, it was still there. You have to bring charcoal. If you can find it, you are welcome to use it.
We'll be launching today (Sat 9-29) at about 10:30am. Sunday, we'll probably launch between 10:30 and 11am. We have a 21 ft Regal. So, if you see us...say "Hi"!

As of today, the grill and a hibachi are still there. Miraculous? So, Hell is NOT waiting for us? Reprieve from the baptism faux pas?
We'll be launching from Gold Star Park about 10:30 or 11am Sunday.

We had a nice boat ride Saturday, put in at Wetumpka about 11.00am and cruised down to Cooter Pond, beached the boat and had lunch (sandwiches and snacks) the lowest place was at the Tallapoosa and Coosa intersection, about 6' on the depth finder, nautiMindeds directions were right on....look out for the cows...lol, not to mention the deer we saw, can't wait for next weekend and it's only Monday....peace

If lake levels stay down going to have to start a new forum entitled "River Trip" - LOL.

Keep us posted on your trip this coming weekend as appears BRF had a great time with his family.

BRF - How was the traffic on the river?

Hey Mav.

Traffic on the river was very light, saw maybe 15-20 boats all day, most were fishing along the banks, 4 or 5 ski/wakeboard boats in Montgomery and 1 Marine Police on the Coosa part of the river.

One thing that stood out to me....everybody waves at you...even the bass boat guys wave... that is the way I like it, boaters being friendly to other boaters.

Hope you and yours can join us sometime, peace.

Glad you had a nice experience on the river! Almost everyone waves to you, unless they are wheeling in a fish. If you ever need assistance or a tow, most people will stop to help. The REALLY good thing about river people is, if you run out of beer, chances are great that they'll have a cold one to spare!
Mainly, from Wetumpka, you'll see fishing boats. Not many cruiser types. For some reason, people seem leery of the river. Can't figure that one out. We do not have any commerce on the river, so no barges to avoid. The currents, if/when they pull water are nothing that could be dangerous or cause peril. The scenery is breathtaking....Especially in the fall with the color changes. We do see snakes and gators on occasion. Non-existant debris, except after a big storm...but that's a distance memory! At times, there can be a lot of trot lines in the middle of the water, but that can make it fun, like an obstacle course.
If you guys want a "guide", we'll be launching about 10:30am Saturday. We have a Regal.
Oh...also....for a really nice ride and scenery, about 10 minutes into the trip, after Parker's Island, you can go right to the Calloway Creek spillway. There's signs that say "Dangerous water, keep out" but it's fine to cruise. When they do pull water, it does not affect boat performance enough to even notice. I think the dam that runs into is Walter Bouldin. The water there is about 30 feet deep in the middle all the way to the dam.
Have a "nauti" day!

Not a problem! We run a "cream and cappucino" Regal. In guy terms, that's white on beige! Not sure if we'll have the blue Silverado or the black Durango. What do you run so we can recognize you? You will need to be heading back to the ramp about 5pm. It's a 40-45 minute ride and it is easy the first few times to take a wrong turn into a tributary and ground out once it starts getting dark. FYI.
So, I guess we'll see you at 10:30ish Saturday!
