This is a wonderful opportunity for the appropriate entities to improve the boat ramps around the lake. How do to make this happen?

I think its up to the APC to make that decision. Unless you are extending your personal boat ramp. Then again I believe you could only go out a total of 50 feet.

I agree. I would like to see APC improve the boat ramps so that they are useable. I do not have a boat ramp but use the public ones during the winter. It would be nice if APC would step up to the plate. ...extend concrete and do a little dredging so that boats can be launched.

Actually the only boat ramp on Lake Martin maintained by APCo is the Union ramp down by Chucks Marina. At least this is my understanding from speaking with APCo about placing Do Not Litter Lake Martin signs around the lake on the boat ramps.

The remainder are maintained by the City, County and the State, respectively. So depends on which ramps you are looking at for example:

Alex City and Pineywoods are - Alex City
Kowaliga - State of Alabama
So on and so forth.

I usually use the Union boat ramp during winter pool but I think its get to low over there as well.

So I guess someone needs to talk to a county commisioners about it then.

OK, now is the time. The appropriate people need to be contacted!. Probably no more then $2-5,000 a ramp and if it is a wet area, they could lay a precast slab into the water to extend the ramp. We need to think about the future of the area.

9 yards of concrete- $900
Labor and other materials-$900
Involve a government agency in the project- Double the above (twice)

A boat ramp that will work in a severe drought......Priceless!

Tallapoosa Co. is already crying there broke again. Kinda hard to belive with all the tax money collected from all these million dollar homes going up on the martin pond area.

to be blessed enough to live on this lake no matter what. I love it.

OK, we need to contact the county and consider the thought of developers pitching in to help. They should be willing to invest in this project to sell their new homes around the lake. The ability to launch boats...sells homes!

I think many would be glad to make a donation if they knew the project would get accomplished properly.

Me too!

Many of us are grateful to live here! Just want to take this opportunity to make it better. Not griping, just trying to improve what is already here.

and I'm just happy to be here.....but given the opportunity, I also hope to "grow" my ramp in about 4 weeks and would love to see some deep water public ramps.

OK, the water is heading south and down. Not much we can do so lets think about what we can do....boat ramp improvement!

What do you think HOBOs? Can this be a positive HOBO initiative?

This would be a project that would be supported by many of those around the lake. This is something we can all support. It would be making the most of an unfortunate situation.

you should volunteer! ... and I do think it could be a positive initiative.
