Subject:   Corps Objects to Flow Cut
Date:   10/5/2007 4:41:13 PM

Excerpts:

The Army Corps of Engineers plans to object to Alabama Power Co.'s plan to cut by more than half the amount of water it releases from its dams on the Coosa and Tallapoosa rivers, a Corps spokesman said Thursday.

"We believe there is a flow agreement between us and Alabama Power, a minimum flow agreement ... and we will discuss with Alabama Power what we believe is a breach of that flow agreement," said Pat Robbins, a spokesman for the Corps in Mobile.

He said the Corps would send a letter to Alabama Power. Robbins also said he didn't know what the Corps might do, if anything, to stop the planned flow reductions. "We'll just have to determine where it goes from there based on their response."

Sure wish someone would investigate how much water the Corps squandered from June till now on the unnecessary dredging of 70 miles of the Alabama River. They dredged it, but now they wasted all the water and still won't be able to float a barge.

I beleive the corps has a little more info than you there jesse. I know you want to rule the world, but you DON"T. That dredging was part of a deal struck to bring NEW industry to Alabama. I know they ONLY spent 9.3 million, and that is chump change to you, but to the folks that actually spent it, and the ones that will benefit form it, it was a pretty good peice of change.
