This is a copy of a comment posted after the article, is there any truth to this? I would hate to think we lost our water this summer to this project.

"The Corps of Engineers has spent the entire summer draining the Coosa and Tallapoosa River basin including Lake Allatoona and Carters Lake in Georgia to dredge 70 miles of the Lower Alabama River that has a history of very low usage--in fact, the dredging was delayed for two years because it didn't qualify for funding.

The dredging started in June and will end October 24, all for nothing. This terrible project had the support of numerous Alabama lobbyists, including CARIA, The Pulp and Paper industry, and Manufacture Alabama, not to mention the probable support of several Alabama governmental officials at the very top level of state government.

It is truly unfortunate that hundreds of thousands of Alabamians (and Georgians) will suffer because of this selfish act that will benefit only a few businesses in South Alabama.

How many billions of gallons of drinking water have been flushed into the Gulf of Mexico? Watch closely and you'll soon see the Corps, CARIA, the paper mills, and the pulp industry demanding that Alabama Power send them more water to waste. It's time to stand up to this greed and waste of Alabama resources."

At the end of this story it says that after the dredging is complete they are going to cut the flow by 40%, why not cut the flow and suspend the dredging now!!!!!!!!

Now on a happy note, yesterday I drove down to my place to check things out since I had not been in a month or so, what a beautiful day it was at the lake. It was very hard to leave. I think I'll have to go back real soon.

I wouldn't be surprised. After living on Lake Lanier for several years I realized that moderate fluctuations in rainfall had very little to do with the lake level.

There was always some other reason for the lake level swings and it was most always some Corps project -although they always blamed rainfall.

Your tax dollars at work.

And that is what it is for. USE IT!!

But Oh, thats right, you ARE using it.... hahahaha.

You guys must be using it like osms is. Put me on iggy, EXCEPT when you want to read the forum. HAHAHA. Now it gets under your skin, but you CAN"T complain. Bruce gae you an iggy button, its purpose is to IGNORE folks, not use it as a way of bashing folks, and that is all it is when you use it like you guys are. LMAO

For the most "Iggies." That should tell you something. I wouldn't dare ignore your posts. They are very entertaining......in a train wreck kind of way.

But at the same time, quit b!tching about what I say.

The iggy button is a joke. The ones that whined for it use it as a way to bash me with clean hands. As I said, I know for a fact that several of them take me off iggy in order to read what I post. They just can't respond because that would 'blow their cover'. They certainly can't whine to Bruce any more.... hahahaha.

Careful what you wish for, you just may get it.
