I stated (which has been questioned by_____, that the only dam that affects Lake Martin is Harris at Wedowee. There are no dams in Georgia that have influence on either the Tallapoosa nor the Little Tallapoosa. Our lake is pretty much completely under the influence of mother nature.
Harris is such a small reservoir that minimal releases from that dam have little or no effect. What's the deal? It seems that some people are saying that Georgia flow releases impact Lake Martin. The only effect that I see is the confluence of rivers to form the Alabama River and its level. What say ye?

OK, you may or may not like this answer but in terms of direct influence I think you are right. However, other dams have an influence on Martin indirectly. The combination of rivers in the ACT basin have to maintain certain flows on the Alabama River. To the extent that flow from say the Coosa is reduced at one or more dams then the shortfall has to be made up by higher releases from Martin. So when the COE reduced flow in Lake Allatoona in Georgia, the levels in Martin dropped due to increased dischargre requirements to maintain adequate downstream flow rates. Clear as mud?!?!

There is only one dam upstream from Martin and that is Harris. Your word "influence" can be a little misleading because the Coosa River system influences how much water is released from Martin--not what comes into Martin.

Like I said, if you meant "directly impact" then you are right and Maverick's link proves it without a doubt. But if they are smart they will broaden the concept, not that I am taking their side. Good luck!

On my deck you only need to divide the number of martini's you can extract from a bottle of Kettle One vodka (purchased from Costco in the industrial size), add a splash of vermouth and two olives and all is joyful......or will soon be........always shaken, never stirred and ice cold......ahhhhhhh

A man after my own heart except hold the vermuth and the olives, but ice cold for sure. Right out of the freezer. Never tried Kettle but the lady at the 'state store' got me hooked on Burnetts.

I'll be there for the pre-game activities (Auburn-PPV) on Saturday. My preference is gin (Beefeaters) on the rocks with 27 or so olives. A vodka martini just never hit home with me. Scotch works, too. BTW, the bet hinged on water coming in from Georgia to the lake. Whoopee, I won.
