Anybody know anything about what is going on at Stoneview Summit in Stillwaters? All work has stopped. I heard from a board member at Stillwaters that the developer had been fired, the contractor quit for non-payment, and the owners were looking for a developer to help with turn around of "troubled" projects like this. Three large buildings already up and mostly finished (one of them), and looks abandoned. Even the construction fence has been removed in a large area, leaving it open.

The version we got was that they went bankrupt and just walked away.

Either way, not good for condo values close to it (like mine!). Hopefully somebody will revive it, but it sure could flood the market with low priced units for a while if they just try and sell it to recover their loses.

I have heard that the developer went bankrupt and was unable to pay the contractors, so they walked off. I have also heard that there is a water problem there and the first building's (the one that looks almost done) bottom floor has flooded a few times. With the rain situation, I would hate to see what happened if we actually had some. I think its terrible because with Stoneview Summit in the condition it is, its an eyesore. I certainly hope that they do something with it to get what has been started completed because I am tired of it looking like a ghost town.

Stopped by today, and there was a guard at the front entrance. He said they have been hired since Monday. He also indicated the development had gone bankrupt, and a new owner out of Atlanta (?) had taken over the complex.

He also indicated there was some "problem" with the property. Could be the water problem mentioned above by another poster?

My understanding is that this project is in Chapter 11. They're in the process of reorganizing and hope to begin work again soon to finish the complex.

The following is part of the meeting minutes from the 6/11/2007 regular meeting of the Tallapoosa county commission.

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve the final plat for Stone View Summit. Commissioner Allen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

I've been told that the owner of this property is the same person that is buying the golf course, etc.

Right after they walked off, all the units were still open, the fans running, lights on, etc. So a couple of us walked around to see what was going on. We only went in units on the first and second floors, but in every unit we did visit either the Berber carpet had been pulled up and was being replaced with hardwood flooring, or it had already been done. There were stacks of flooring in every unit we looked into - and not just on the bottom floor. Although the first building looks to be almost completed, there is still lots of work to be done in each unit before they are really finished. We figured it would take several workers a week in each unit to finish them off. The fixtures, and the floorplans are really nice though. The 2000 sq. foot units are a great layout.

Do you know if they plan on any changes to the golf course?
Thanks

How can one continue to get credit and financing to purchase more, when they have already failed on one project and declared bankruptcy.I just dont get it. I guess this is my the economy is mired in a slowdown/recession. Too much easy credit, just borrow borrow and take on too much debt.

Lots of rumors, nothing for sure. Rumors say opening part of the old course. Again, no one knows. Deal is supposed to close sometime this year though.
