A previous post mentioned that the extension of the Kawoliga ramp is complete, that next will be the Pace's point ramp and then finally, the Kawoliga Bridge ramp. I did not know that there were two Kawoliga ramps. Just where is the completed one located.

The ramp that was extended is across from Siclairs. But, only one ramp was extended. The west ramp was the extended ramp.

The right lane of the ramp at the north end of 63 bridge was extended last week. Equipment was still there Sunday, so I would guess they did the left ramp this week......That post confused me too.

The Equipment left on wed. Doesnt look like they did anything to the left ramp.

My bad for confusing you. I just don't get out to the Kawoliga area that much.

I guess they must be planning on the lake filling up soon so we won't need it

Maybe this will help. The ramp at Kawoliga Bridge is a double ramp (launch two boats at one time). The west side of the ramp was extended. The crew has now gone to Paces Point to extend that ramp. Once they complete PP they will return to Kawoliga and extend the east ramp (bridge side). The purpose of going to PP before extending both Kawoliga ramps is to have an extended ramp on the lower end of the lake and another on the upper portion instead of having two ramps on the lower end before having any relief for the upper end. The source of this information is the guys working on the ramp.

As you probably know, Ala Pwr has requested authority to bring the lake level to 483 thoughout the winter and begin summer fill Jan 15 instead of Feb 15. The "experts" say this can be accomplished and continue to outflow the proper volume for the Alabama/Mobile rivers but it is dependent upon releases from the Coosa River portion of GA (Allatoona and Carters). Perhaps the trade-off we haven't heard yet is less water outflow from Lanier and increased outflow from Allatoona and Carters. After yesterday's meeting in Washington, who knows what will happen. Let's keep hoping . . . . . .

I have heard about the 483 winter pool and the earlier fill date proposal.....I guess I will remain cautiously optimistic and will believe it when I see it.

It sure would be nice and it seems to be a prudent move.
