In an interview after the news conference, Riley said the deal also includes a cut in the amount of water that the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority can withdraw from Allatoona Lake.

"It's been our contention all the way along that Cobb County was exceeding the amount of withdraw ... (permitted by) the corps by 100 percent. Today they agreed to cut that back to their permitted allocation," Riley said
Asked how much more water that means downstream along the Alabama and Coosa rivers, Riley said, "More than we had."

DOES THIS MEAN THAT THERE WILL BE MORE WATER FLOWING FROM ALLATOONA TO THE ALABAMA RIVER, THUS LESS WILL HAVE TO BE DRAWN FROM LAKE MARTIN?

Alabama has been trying to find out how much water Cobb/Marietta has been taking from Allatoona since mid-summer, but the Corp of Engineers used every excuse in the book to keep from having to make the information public. Finally last week on the Drought Conference Call announcement email they attached the raw data of actual usage by Cobb/Marietta --without comment. The COE is just as political as anyone else in government.

I don't expect much change in releases, if any; the COE is still in charge and they're probably PO'd since they've been found out.

Everyone needs to write FERC to support the APCo requested increase in winter levels. If you don't let them of your support, you may be sorry next summer.

Do you have the contact info for FERC to post so that we can send in our thoughts? E-mail addresses? or snail mail addresses?

Thanks,

Go to the HOBOs website www.lakemartin.org and read the HOBO updates. Scroll to the bottom to see a recent letter written to FERC. Everyone needs to write!
