When going out on the Lake for pleasure, how does one know if landing and disembarking on an island is permitted? I don't see any notation of this on my charts, yet I regularly see people on the beaches at Youngs Island and others, to note a couple. Is there a listing somewhere of permitted landing or prohibited use islands?

Pretty much all of the islands are owned by either Russell Lands or Alabama Power. I don't think they mind people landing there as long as they don't litter or something. Camping - I don't think this is allowed, though, like you, I have seen plenty of people doing it.

I agree with you John, but the sad fact is that alot of people do litter. I don't think when you see no trespassing signs that RL or APCO are just trying to be mean they just realize that if they let everyone hang out or camp everywhere they wanted it would look like a city dump in six months because there are too many people out there that just don't respect other peoples property and that is the real tragedy.
My family and I sometimes use these areas to picnic and we always take a couple of extra trash bags along to pick-up the garbage left behind by trashy people. This has always been one of my pet peeves, and it is so avoidable.
