Has anyone else experienced vandalism to their sprinkler system? Although our system has been shut down and drained for quite some time, someone has decided to try and destroy it. They smashed the foot of the pipe and cut into the pipe several places to avoid pressure build up in hopes to burn up the pump when it turned on. I advise everyone to check their systems and also to watch along the waterways for theses idiots!

Have any of the sprinker heads been stolen? This is something used with bobytraps devices and very desirable for the purpose.
Not only are they used by terrorist but also certain farmers for protection of special weed crops to protect against encroachment.
I would recommend you report the vandalism to your local law enforcment folks.
I can not think of any other reason for such vandalism unless you have an enemy.

While the very word vandalism implies that the act was done senselessly, there may be a few folks out there unhappy with those who are drawing water from the lake to water their lawns. I certainly do not intend to validate vandalism under any circumstances but offer this as a possible explanation.

Sorry to hear that, especially since we live very near you. So far we have not experienced any similar problems but will certainly keep watch.

I have reported it to both the water patrol and to the county police. Well they left their footprints since they had to climb on shore to cut into the pipe in several places.

I have seen the same thing happen to a number of systems, but it is always after a deep freeze. Are you sure that the system was completely drained?

It could be worse, and we would see the pictures of the twins JIM and Lakeman mooning the surveilance camera..

I am sure. Freezing does not cut pipes. I'm in property management and I've seen a few busted pipes over the years. Yes it was drained and shut off. It's unfortunate that someone would do this, but there are some INSANE people out there. Life goes on. : ) Nothing can stop my passion for Lake Martin. I'll pick up the pieces and move on!

No, but I have had my timers stolen before. Not at this house though. The kids ended up stealing them to use with their homemade bombs. What ever happened to an arcade for entertainment?

I do not think you will have many takers in Law Enforcement as decoys since they are no longer many of te dunking donut type anymore in law enforcement.
Most are impressive looking young men who were probably previous Fullbacks or linebackers for the local teams and possibly served a few years with th Marines or Army..
If you do not believe me, then visit Jim Bobs in Alex City one day for lunch.
I would immediatiely drop and roll in the mud if so commanded by one of these 9 MM toten bretheren of the local churches.
All said in jest and fun with some truth added.
