Was having breakfast Sunday morning watching all the sticks and trees float down stream. Then I noticed some "debris" moving cross current. Got out the binocs and discovered that this tree was actually a large buck swimming across the river. I've seen plenty of does swimming around, but this was the first buck - easy a 8 or 10 point.

Otherwise you'll have deer stands in every tree on your property! :-)

Fetching a buck out of the water would make my retrievers day!

Hey Jim, you sure that was not my twenty four pressure treated 2 x 6 x 12's floating down in front of your house.

Actually almost happened, but some folks were at my lake house on Saturday and grabbed the other 23 before it was to late. So Jim would you please return the one I am sure you confiscated as it passed by your house on Saturday.

Lets just say I drove up to the lake and said oh chit, as I had left the lumber and other stuff in the lake bed thinking I had 2 or 3 weeks to get them out - NOT.

Also guess I have to wait till next year for the seawall and concrete boat ramps. By that time Jim you should be done with your honey do list and will have no excuses not to come help as I pay one six pack per 8 hours. plus I will come over and pick you up in the boat, that way you cannot go home unless you are very good swimmer. - LOL.

Wish I had known there was free lumber floating around - can always use a few extra sticks for projects. Glad your friends caught the rest. All I managed was several trees hung up on my dock and one towable (with rope).

The buck I saw got out on the point directly south of you. Probably be around to eat your shrubs this spring!

I know two guys that killed a 10 point swimming across Harris the first year it was open to fishing. Still in velvet fir the most part, beautiful mount. They managed to get it on the opening day of primitive weapon season while fishing. Thier first plan was to circle it till it got tired and drowned, but the flaw in that plan soon became obviuos so they switched to 'plan B'. They used the anchor roped and lassoed (sp?) his rack. It took several tries but once they finally got the lasso around his rack, he went under and that was it. 10 point bucked killed with a rope. Now that is a "PRIMATIVE WEAPON!!

Hillarious story to hear the two of them tell it. Last I heard they shared the rack still switching it every year.

Sounds like a fish story to me - except they have the rack!
