At the beginning of this month when we were at 477, I posted a message in reply to someone being negative about the level. While I thought it would be a stretch I responded we should be at 484 by the end of February. There were a few replies that without very heary rains we could rise 7 feet in a month. WOW - we made it. Lucky guess or pure faith and hope.

Now rising 6 feet in March seems very doable, although I think they will start to slow the rise after it hits 487, but we still should be between 488 and 489 by the end of March. Again, I hope.

but if they follow the variance that was approved, the rule guidelines allow it to be at 490 on April 1st. I don't see why it can't be done if we get a reasonable amount of rain between now and then. Time to party when we hit full pool!!!!!!

It never gets to 490..... They have to allow a little for flood control...

they might inch on up to or above 488.5 plus in july, but they have to leave a couple of feet for heavy rain in april/may.

I remember 490 several times. A few of those resulted in a crazy show below the dam (flood gates!)

What day did you predict we would be a 484 by the end of February?

There have been times a few years back it did hit 490 (maybe above) because I had a little flooding. But I agree it rarely is ever at 490 since the have to leave a little room for unknown.

We were at 486 last year by mid-May, 2 feet above where we are now, without any variances. Then, no rain to hold it there.
Don't want to be negative, but if we don't continue to get good rain, variance or not, it's gonna' go down. Anybody know any good Rain Dances that we could do??

We are 3.5 feet ahead of where we were last year so If we just get the rain got last year we should make 489.0. Another thing is that they were releasing water during the summer last year for dredging on the Ala. river. Hopefully that won't be required this year.

We are getting ready to build a sea wall on my dad's lot next week.....that should help with rain and water rise to ensure we don't get finished in time. If that doesn't work, everyone wax their cars and leave the boat out with the cover off.

I should have elaborated that if it does hit 490 its because of an unplanned circumstance....

Maybe you can help us all with a "Pollen Dance" for March and April??

I was one of the negative one's. It seemed to work pretty good so here we go again. Alabama power is doing a horrible job managing the lake and there is no way we will reach full pool this year. You people are crazy to believe it will rain enough.

Hope that works.

the variance calls for full pool a month early this year. Maybe we'll get there....whether you want to call full pool 489.5 or 490.
