The response from our Dean of Students:
Many of you have emailed me this past few days expressing your moral outrage in regards to reports of a protest scheduled to take place during the same time as the memorial for Lauren Burk. In order to avoid any potential problems or issues that might arise and take away from this service, we will be able to limit access into the coliseum. We don't anticipate any problems inside during the memorial itself. Additionally, police officers will be stationed around the coliseum.
Let me remind all Auburn students to please remember to conduct yourselves like Auburn men and women. I realize you are hurt and angry, and having to deal with a group such as the Westboro Baptist church only increases some of that anger. Please listen to me. IGNORE THEM! Attention is what the group likes to get. In honor of Lauren and all she stood for and still means to us, please do not resort to violence, or exchanging words with these individuals, if they show up for the memorial. We don't now for sure if they will be here, but everything they have published and sent out indicates they plan to be on campus tomorrow. Auburn university is a public institution, and while we are fairly limited in how we can restrict access to a public institution, be assured that we have organized this memorial to minimize opportunities for groups such as Westboro Baptist church to disrupt our campus and its programs.
I am counting on you to display the quality of character that make Auburn men and women distinctive. For Lauren. For Auburn.

The deal with this so called "church" is really the vast majority of the "members" are FAMILY. They are also a family of lawyers. They are just waiting for someone to keep them from one of their constitutional rights so they can sue, and when they sue they get money. It's sickening. They are simply trying to play the system at the unjustice to families all over. It's truly sick.

What I don't get is in their article they talk about how terrible Universities are and how God hates them...is it just me but don't lawyers go to school?
Sorry but I don't think they know the same God I do, there is a lot of stuff in the article that is just NUTS!

Very good point. However, I think what happened was they realized that they really weren't getting anywhere when it came to military funerals because the Patriot Guard had figured out how to block them without blocking their rights. So they have added funerals of college students as well (their stance being that there is sin in colleges), I think they were expecting no protections. However, nice to see the patriot guard is showing up to those as well. I am truly impressed with the patriot guard and the sacrifices that they give to ensure everyone has a respectful funeral.

BAPTIST CHURCH.... Why is no one protesting their affiliation to the Baptist Church... I hope these people rot in hell and I hope the Baptist challenge them for use of the affiliation of the Baptist faith. that is how I feel.
