Is Suzie Q's still in business and what is the name of the restaurant I saw mention a few weeks back? It is on 229 between 63 and Castaway Rd.

Green Valley...don't know if Suzy Q's will be open again or not. It was closed when I went by.

Thank you. I tried Old South Thurs. night and was disappointed. Seems that they have change ownership.

Cactus Grill is my favorite place on the southwest side of the lake.

jlazc seems like most everyone on this fourm are from the Dadeville area, but when I saw you post about Suzy Q's(she lives close to our lake house) and Cactus Grill I had a feeling You were close. Our neighbors had given us a gift cert for Cottons B.B.Q which I though was good, I live in Sylacauga but may try to catch up with You when spring gets here

Had lunch at Green Valley Deli and Market again Thursday and am still impressed with the place. It is a nice change of pace from most of the places you find around the lake. Had the Yellowfin Tuna sandwich and it was very good. Still like Cactus Grill for more of a fun atmosphere though. More of a drinking place. You can also get beer and wine at Green Valley though. Also, if you are in the Eclectic area, the new Fred's has opened. It is going to really hurt Dollar General. More and better varieties and a lot more organized and cleaner.

Is good, consistent - not a "fine" restaurant but the dinner menu is somewhat upscale. Reasonable

I agree J, we ate there a couple weeks ago, good atmosphere, music, drinks, service, menu and price. Best place i've been in the immediate lake area.

OK, Green Valley – about half way between Hwy 63 @ Lake Martin Mini Mall and the cutoff to Anchor Bay Marina on Hwy 229. It is on the north or lake side and has a small pond just off the parking lot. I know they close early at night, either 7 or 8, don’t remember which. We go for lunch.

Old South is on Hwy 170 in Eclectic. If you are traveling south on Hwy 63, you come into Eclectic, Russell Do-It on right, Dollar General and new Fred’s on left. Then pizza place and video rental on left and you bear right onto hwy. 170 (which takes you to Wetumpka). The place is about 2 miles after the 63 cutoff. It is called Old South Bar-B-Q and is on the left. You can’t miss it. Like someone said on another thread, the little guy that sold it last year did a fair job, but the loud, overbearing lady that owns it now is not my favorite person to listen to. She also sells real estate, so she is not always there. You know it if she is. She is very loud and obnoxious. I have about quit going because of her.

only order appetizers or sandwiches, or pasta. Steaks are absolutely horrible and over priced{disgusting} If you want a good meal at a fair price try cotton's bbq on 63 or cactus grill in eclectic. Big B in Alex city is also outstanding

I agree with your assessment of Sinclair’s POLAR. I do like the fried shrimp and the catfish on the main menu, but the best thing for me is the grouper bites on the appetizer menu. You can order them and get a side item and/or salad and have a good meal.

I live about 30 miles north of Big B's Alex City, and this place is an icon for alot of the area. I have been many times over the years without ever an unpleasant experience ..ever

I have also noticed a restaurant-market type place hafe way down 229, nice looking building. But have never been there or talked to anyone has

We used to enjoy Sinclairs but over the last year the service has gone downhill. We never see anyone but 14 year olds running the place!

Unfortunately, the Grouper Bites have been renamed Sinclairs fish bites on the menu. They use whatever they have I think and the last time I had them NOT GOOD. I used to like their salads at Sinclairs but the last one I had there the lettuce was OLD tasting. It's such a shame because the location and ambience is GREAT. I talked to a full time Red Hill resident last week and I asked about Old South. We always passed there either coming or going from the lake on Friday, Saturdays or Sundays and it used to always be packed. Hardly a parking space to be found. Now there is hardly a car to be found and he said the owner corrected employees in front of customers and the food wasn't good either. He said he thought they would be history very shortly.

It is a real shame that we do not have any more options than we do ON the water!

The last time I was at Sinclair's, a guy walked to the edge of the dock and started urinating into the lake right in front of everyone. No one did a think. As a woman, I personally do not enjoy viewing something like this, much less while I am trying to enjoy a meal. Amazing.
