The weather was good Friday and Saturday at the lake. Friday afternoon late black clouds came up but no rain out of it. Saturday was perfect except the boat wouldn't crank. We had fun watching our 4 year old daughter decide if she really wanted to get into the cold water or not. Did lots of yard work and got more stuff out of the lake that had washed up to shore.

Ready for the boat to be fixed so we can go riding.

Wow!! No rain Friday, We got a really nice shower over here, and we are only few miles away, 'as the crow flies'. Sorry about the busted boat, but at least it didn't happen after you left the pier. We got another great show from the eagles yesterday, both mature and juveniles.

It got dark, we saw the rain coming from Kowliga and it was lightening and Willow Point but nothing at our place. In fact, we were getting ready to fry some fish outside and I ended up doing it inside.

We have the boat repair guy coming sometime this week to pull the boat out of the water (thankfully we have a boat ramp at our place) and he's going to pull it to his shop and put a stater on it and bring it back. He said we should have it back by Memorial Day weekend. I hope so because my mom only comes up one time in the summer from Gulf Shores and that's the weekend she's coming. Her husband loves to fish and that's what he plans to do. He does alot of off shore fishing but really loves Lake Martin. They are going to retire at the lake in a few more years.

If it's just a starter, you should ask him if he will replace it at your house. Many are very easy to replace; I put a new one on one of my boats last year in about 20 minutes.

No, he said he was going to have to put a stater on it. The boat would run fine until we got it to 3,000 rpm's and then it drops rpm's and you would think you are going to get whiplash from it. Friday it would turn over but not crank. The boat repair guy said the same thing happened to his motor and he had to put a stater on it. We'll see. I pray it works.

My starter is what I changed out in 20 minutes. It was hard to get to and it required some creative angles with the wrench, but but was a simple job overall.

I don't think that is a starter causing that, if the starter was bad it would not crank over. Once the engine is started the starter is done doing it's job, you sure he did not say fuel pump? Depending on the boat that is easier than a starter. Was on my boat, I've done both to it.

No, he didn't say starter, he said it was a stater. Something to regulate the speed/rpm's. It is a Johnson 90hp.

I am no mechanic, but that sounds more like a regulator than a stater to me. A stater is very expensive to replace. I would want more accurate diagnosis before replacing parts willy nilly.

I agree, I miss read stater for starter, guess I am really in a big hurry.

Me too. Guess I should put on the reading glasses when I check the computer on my yard work breaks. Anyway, good luck in getting it fixed.

The confusion here is caused by the spelling...the coreect word is STATOR. Trying to be helpful!
