Have been reading the LM forum as of late since this forum has lets just say gotten totally out of control.
But wanted to bring this to everyone's attention as I am sure it is just a matter of time, if not already happening on Martin.
Several folks have stated on the LM Forum they have had gas siphoned out of their boats and also 5 gallon gas cans taken from underneath their carports, etc.
So guess it it is time to buy those locking gas caps. Wonder if they make one for PWCs.

It's happening already here, I had two six-gallon cans taken from my rack I built for them, they were full. I guess I'll start locking them inside the building when I leave. Maybe someone else will catch them and shot them like the one's that were breaking into the electric contractors building out on hwy. 34, I have no use what-so-ever for a thief..........
And please come back we miss you, we promise to start playing nice again, or at least I will.

My neighbor had two five gallon gas cans taken off his front porch, but he came up with in unique solution. He baought another new one, put in a few ballons of water and topped it off with a little gas. Somebody got a rude awakening.

I love it!....I keep my cans locked in the garage, but maybe I'll leave a few out with the water/gas mixture!!

And BTW Mav, tell us what it was that sent this forum "out of control"? You have not been shy about pointing out my "indescretions" in the past. Now I can't help but wonder, since you consider the forum to be out of control, will you so readilly "call out" one of your own to restore order?

Becasue in order to go into court, one must have 'clean hands'. If you are damaged due to the fact that you STOLE a can that happened to contain something harmful to your engine, you will not pass the clean hands test.

Half / Half won't do any damage I am going to add a bag of sugar to mine. LTL is right you cannot be held responsible for anything you mix up for you own use and someone steals it trust me I asked when my hunting club got cleaned out and i wanted to inject anti freeze in a bunch of boston butts

Yes it works, does a better job in the oil but it will do some damage in the gas.

Mythbusters tested the sugar thing. Busted. Sugar in the gas did nothing. They actually tested several myths invoving gasoline. The only one that really srewed up the works was bleach. Water will do no permanent damage. In fact it will do no damage till it is sucked into the carb or injectors, then it just fouls plugs and causes down time. It is however, a real bugger to get out of most tanks. I guess it could cause rust issues in the cylinder wall if left in them in large quantities. Another of the good qualities of the water is that it will usually manifest as an intermittent problem due to the mobile nature of most internal combustion engines. The water bubble will only be over the pickup in the tank for short time, then it will pick up fuel again. I learned all this the hard way on a boat I used to have that got water in the tank.

Sugar does not dissolve in gas, but it can't hurt to throw in a few spoons that will dissolve in water and may help gum things up. The water will be a pain in the @ss and will be hard to "dry out".. How about a few other additives.....any ideas?

Bleach will really srew things up. VERY corosive. And mixes well.

Agree Bleach is best for a fuel additive, I have seen the sugar do some damage, took out my daughters fuel pump, filter and injectors. I guess it would have to have way more than a little that would not be noticeable in a five-gallon can
|
add a little bleach to the mixture.....however I'd better ask my wife or daughter (chemical engineers) before I blow myself up.

Now that would get you in trouble. There is a difference between property damage and bodily damage, possible death. Same principle that doesn't allow you to hook a shotgun to fire when a door is opened. In that case you wuold be held liable, even if it was a theif that opened the door becasue it is indiscriminate. It could be a lost and confused alzhiemers patient that comes through the door with no ill intentions. Same with the Boston Butts. What if the thief takes them home and feeds them to his family? Are his children responsible for his actions? And even if he didn't, we don't punish theft with death.

LTL is absolutely correct about the bleach. I saw the same show(MythBusters). I do not believe there would be any health hazards associated with mixing bleach and gasoling (to yourself, anyway).

I never would have done it I only said that I "wanted" to. It would have been my luck that whoever stole it would have cooked it and sold it on the corner and I would have been the only one to buy a Bar-b-q

I think E-85 would lean out a motor and make it run rough. I'm sure a marine engine would not adjust .

No deisel won't "mess up" a gas engine...it just won't run well depending on the mixture ratio.....if at all....but fixable with a flush....
if you really want to have some fun.....put a couple quarts of wood varnish into a boat gas can...use something thats close to the color of the gas so it doesn't give away that the "additive" is in there.....whatever they put the gas into will have serious issues with fouling plugs and stuck rings and if it runs long enough it will stick a valve and hang it open, smack a piston and destroy the engine....this doesn't work well on 2 strokes because of the reed valves but it will stick a ring and gall a piston/cylinder wall which will just get worse until the engine seizes....
not that I've ever done anything like that........
or just octopus bomb them......google it.....
