7:00 this morning an excursion was made to move 6 nanny's back to Goat Island. 4 have been moved already and the other two will join them shortly. We are currently searching for a good billy to place with the nanny's so that future generations of goats can repopulate the island. Several families helped in the purchase, transport, and care of the goats. We ask that everyone who wants to see the goats thrive on the island to please watch out for them.

The last two herds were shot at night. Might want to look into some game cameras aimed at the water. There is an old service road off the dam that leads to the point South and West of the island. A Game Warden told me at least two were shot from that point. He said it was someone just trying to see how long a shot they could make. I wonder if a camera or two there might be useful too?
I really hope they leave this herd alone. It would be nice to see the old island given back to its namesake.

Me and my family are fairly new to the lake. When my girls see those goats on goat island...they will be ecstatic.
I think DARE park is a long ride for me (Kowliga near 63). But I want to take them to see the eagles nest as well.

Each time I have passed the eagle nest near Chimney rock I have seen what appears to be a young bald eagle sitting on a limb in a tree just south of the nest.

Glad to see the goats are back. Our girls (in their mid 20's now) have many fonf memories of loading up with the extra vegetables and going to the island and putting the food out for them.

I say them yesterday afternoon, My wife and friends thought is was crazy and we did not go back to see if in fact I did, good to know it was not a flashback after all.

Just an FYI kind of thing, I posted some pictures I scanned from the Goats that were on the island in 1993, they were very tame and would take food out of your hand, the kids will love this, I hope like everyone else that these goats make it thru the summer.
