Was just playing with the Lake Graph (see below link) and right now the lake level is almost exactly where it was at this time back in 2006 and 2005. (at the bottom of the graph -- Click off the 2007 check mark and then you can click on the 2006 and 2005 box to see the respective years levels)

In 2006 we had a steady decrease from this point on and on Labor Day the water level was about 486.

In 2005 the water level on Labor Day was about 488.2

My guess is without additional rainfall (the current high pressure system moving) and then coupled with the summer heat fast approaching (not that we have not already had some 95 degree days) we could be around the 486 mark come Labor Day.

So guess its time for all to do the rain dance once again. As sure would be nice to have ample water like back in 2005, 2004, 2003 when we did not reach 486 till Oct 23rd or thereabouts (which has been the historical trend of the lake winter draw down based on the chart).

But on the bright side at this time in 2007 we were at about 483.9 and on Labor Day 2007 at about 479.9 (already below the winter pool rule curve). So the glass is more than half full as compared to 2007 without a doubt !!

I view myself as a realist, rather than an optimist or a pessimist – last year I poured another 6 ½ yards on the end of the ramp. At about 478.0 the end will be dry, and I hope that I never again see the end. If I do – hello more concrete. The advantages to low water – less traffic, less wake, more beaches. Come to think about it, start that rain dance Mav….

One nice thing with that low water level was the opportunity to walk along and find things. Found a few arrowheads, some interesting rocks, and lots of "modern stuff", including my old cell phone. And no, it didn't work <g>

The Alabama river was very low this morning... I expect lake to drop like a rock in the very near future unless Mother Nature gives us more rain...

Ouch. I really need a good year after last year. Perhaps a nice tropical storm (is there such an animal?) will come our way this year.
