I consisently see some good and very bad boating etiquette
on the lake. The biggest problem is PWC operators (mostly young ones) who do not look before turning, etc. FYI, I also own a PWC and have no problem with them. I see a lot of horrible etiquette from boaters, including ones who are 25 and beyond. There is far too much playing chicken on the water where boaters wait to the very last mintues to change course when two boats are headed in same path. I see boats flying around turns where it's very dangerous and where there is poor visiblity. Also, boaters who pass right by boats that are not moving or moving slowly at high speeds.

I still see a lot of good boaters and one's willining to help distressed boaters which is nice. It's on weekends like the past one where you really notice the poor boating etiquette and where it becomes a hazzard.

I live in Sandy Creek Estates and we have two jet skis (White over blue Kawasaki 1100 and white/dark gray Yamaha HO) that my teenagers and friends ride. IF ANYONE SEES THEM ACTING IRRESPONSIBLY OR DANGEROUSLY PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I lecture them every time they go out and when we are out an about with our boat I tell them they have to stay in sight of us so I can monitor their behavior. But once they are out of sight......

I know its a shot in the dark but I have no problem parking the jet skis if they get out of hand.

"moving slowly at high speeds. " Sound like something Jimmy B would write a song about.

That reminds me of our neighbor. It looked like he let his college age son have the lakehouse over the weekend, since I did not see any adults over there, but before he turned over the keys he was seen hauling the jet skis off to storage(except for one old beater that has spent too many winters sitting in the mud).

My two pet peeves are .... (1) not keeping to the right in a channel, (2) coming too close to another boat/PWC ...... it amazes me when there are 50 boats in a channel ... 25 going in one direction and 25 in the other, and invariably there will be 1 or 2 boats going completely "up-stream" on the left against the flow of traffic, completely oblivious to the danger and to the fact that everybody else is having to work around them .... just my two cents

Thought I had seen it all before this weekend. Actually saw a boat directly follow another boat that had a child behind it on a tube. Not nearly enough room (about 30 yards) to avoid hitting the child if she had fallen from the tube.
Dog gone if I'm not ready to be deputized.
And as far as boaters staying on the correct side of a channel, after getting in to the dock on Friday, I was still serpentining an hour later.

I think that song will be between "God's Own Drunk" and "Fruitcakes."

I still think the boats pulling skiers in the small coves are as dangerous as any PCers.
