The following is form littlegreenfootballs.com:

Eight days after the atrocities of September 11, 2001, Barack Obama wrote a piece for the Hyde Park Herald—and blamed the attacks on “a failure of empathy.”

"Even as I hope for some measure of peace and comfort to the bereaved families, I must also hope that we as a nation draw some measure of wisdom from this tragedy. Certain immediate lessons are clear, and we must act upon those lessons decisively. We need to step up security at our airports. We must reexamine the effectiveness of our intelligence networks. And we must be resolute in identifying the perpetrators of these heinous acts and dismantling their organizations of destruction.

We must also engage, however, in the more difficult task of understanding the sources of such madness. The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy, such numbness to the pain of a child or the desperation of a parent, is not innate; nor, history tells us, is it unique to a particular culture, religion, or ethnicity. It may find expression in a particular brand of violence, and may be channeled by particular demagogues or fanatics. Most often, though, it grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair.

We will have to make sure, despite our rage, that any U.S. military action takes into account the lives of innocent civilians abroad. We will have to be unwavering in opposing bigotry or discrimination directed against neighbors and friends of Middle Eastern descent. Finally, we will have to devote far more attention to the monumental task of raising the hopes and prospects of embittered children across the globe—children not just in the Middle East, but also in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and within our own shores." BHO

Obama’s comments display an appalling disconnect from reality.

Osama bin Laden came from one of the richest families in the world. None of the 9/11 attackers were poor; if anything, they could be considered “middle class.” Ringleader Mohammed Atta was educated as an architect in the West.

Almost everything Obama wrote in this article was proven wrong. And he gave absolutely no consideration at all to the ideology of radical Islam, which is much more to blame than any imaginary “poverty” or “lack of empathy.”

And now he’s within reach of the presidency.

The most horrendous disease of the 20th century in America was APATHY, and it is spilling over into this century.
It is going to take a really, really hard slap in the face to American people to wake us up, and at least start to recover the values that made us really good.
Neither McCain nor O'Bama will do it. Neither will a Congress already indebted to special interests and agendas dedicated to RE-ELECTION.
It ain't only politicians to blame. It is the collective "US" that are comfortable now, Don't bother me, Me Me ME attitude, Everything will be OK, people who are to blame. We allow it, every day, every election, every school day.
And, once again, the "People" will settle for whatever candidates the party controllers have chosen, and, just like the sheep we are, we will feel patriotic going into the booth, and have a little sticker that says "I VOTED". How nice.
It sucks, and sooner or later, I or my children are gonna' pay a really heavy price.

I would not participate in Politics/discussions. I like to read and make my own decisions. But ... I can't help but notice one thing. Every photo of Michelle Obama looks as though she smells something foul, and has her nose in the air! Is it me, or am I crazy (don't answer that). Really, look and see for yourself. It's like "dang, it stinks in here", or "Look at me now"<<<<surely not! Just an observation from CAT...

.... she is constantly looking down it at us 'common folk'. I just thought Hillary was a scary as First Lady. This woman is dangerous and just like with billary, she wears the pants in that family. Remember, she has never been 'proud of her country' till her husband had shot at beign the nominee.

Mine too. I was dissapointed when he said he wouldn't run for Govenor. I'll never forget him having the conversation with his mother when she said the Republicans are only 'for the rich folks' and he told her, "Ma, I am one of those rich folks"....lol. But my favorite is him telling the story of thorowing the guy out through the window of a bar. The interveiwer ask him if it was true. He readilly said yes, and if you say the things he did about my family, I will throw you through one too.....lol.

you and i agree 100% on the fact that this man is so scary and it is beyond belief that he is a nominee let alone he could potentially win with his radical socialist views.

I am sure we agree on a lot more. Personally I thing all PWC's are the gnats of watercraft and should all be sunk on sight. But reallity is, they are here to stay. I just get perturbed by folks that own lake property and then whine about watercraft of ANY type. You are doing what makes you happy, they are doing what makes them happy. Live and let live. Secure your watercraft appropriately for conditions at your place, buy a mumu, enjoy your coffee and thank God, and the next soldier you see, that you are fortunate enough to have a place on any lake to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
