After reading so many negative post I was reluctant to attempt a go at Sinclair`s to eat but, instead we decided to give it a try. We ate at Suzy Q`s a few weekends back and wasn`t very impressed but, I would eat there again just for the fun of traveling by boat from the North end of the lake to the South end.
So last night we headed that way. When we arrived at Sinclair`s I was shocked at the amount of boats and people there. We actually had to wait about 10 minutes for a boat parking space at the dock. Once inside it was almost a mad house, people everywhere. I figured a 45-minute wait. NOPE! They sat us in like 3 minutes or less. The waitress was running to keep things going and got our drinks to us fast. The wait for our meal was about 12-15 minutes. I had the fried shrimp and my wife had a rib eye (well done). The mashed potatoes were great and we could not have been happier with our meal. The waitress kept apologizing for the wait time of getting back to us with refills but, it was never bad at all. We watched as the kids (and BIG KIDS) tossed bread to the turtles and ducks, people having there picture made with the sun going down in the background, and just everyone really enjoying themselves and there company for the evening. Cost was less than $50.00 (without alcohol) and I will certainly entertain taking family and friends back there again.
The long ride home in the dark is even more exciting (GPS in hand if I need it) so it made for a fun night. Once we got near the house I called into my automation system and turned the GREEN MONSTER on and we enjoyed seeing it from the water for the first time.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. I recommend Sinclair`s at Kowliga.

We also took a chance last night when we had family come in and they wanted to go to Sinclairs by boat and eat. My wife and I had not been since the winter and I too was surprised by the number of boats and people there. We also were seated right away and got our drinks and an appetizer pretty quick but dinner took awhile. Three of us ordered the specials (grouper with a wine reduction and redfish with a corn and crawfish relish) and we all enjoyed. The fourth got the shrimp and avacado salad. They were very busy and it did seem that one of the managers in particular was paying more than normal attention to the tables and servers. We will be going back. Maybe someone has been reading the posts and shared the concerns with them.

I think you are spot on about someone got the message. It is about time they woke up. They have always been busy, due to lack of choices, the problem has been it was like they did not care if they gave good service, or poor food, since they knew people would still come because they had no other option.

But I too went this weekend, just like I do every weekend, and felt something had changed and it was a somewhat better. I felt they cared and the food was better. It still is a lake restaurant and will not compare to city places, but it is nice to see they want to improve and earn their business rather than take for granted.

That is amazing you can get out of there for $50. My wife and I can never walk out for less than $100 to $120 before tip. But we always have a bottle of wine too. Then you add a 20-25% tip and it is $125 to $150.

I know it is our own fault because we get wine. But I can not eat a dinner without getting a decent bottle of wine. I just wish they had a better selection and had nicer glasses than those little play glasses. A nice big bowl on a wine glass (with red) makes a world of difference to enjoy a decent bottle of wine.

Gald to hear the report. I think one poster hit the nail on the head. I think the message was sent that the place needed some sprucing up! I am especially glad to hear it because this weekend I have a annual get together of about 30 people and we always go out to eat instead of cooking so Sinclairs will have to be visited. Hopefully we can have the same experience.

We ate there last weekend with a party of 9 and only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. As busy as they were we expected top wait much longer. I had fried crab claws for my appetizer and they were very good and as fresh as any you would get down at the Gulf. Some of the others had the largest fried onion rings you will ever see and they were good as well. Everything we had was very good and we got great service. Our waiter said he is a student at Auburn and just works weekends at Sinclair's.
