Lions Lake Martin Charity Poker Run
The Lions Club Lake Martin Poker Run starts at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, a charity event that includes boating from place to place in search of the best poker hand. The Lions Lake Martin Charity Poker Run is a part of the celebration. There are five stops on the run, with the final stop being the Aquapalooza at Sinclair's. The cost to participate in the poker run is $125 per hand with proceeds going to Alexander City Lions Club. Entry forms are available at all Russell Marine locations.

on it but would like a little more info on it from someone close to the event. It says food and fun. Is the food meaning sitting down in Sinclairs or a cookout on the lawn? Do they anticipate a large boat crowd anchored out? Will the bands be set up so that the music is aimed at the water crowd or directed to Sinclairs? Simple questions but the more info the better.

I have never been myself and can't wait to join in. If you look at previous photos you can get a better idea of what is in store. See you there!

According to the Aquapalooza website and info obtained after registering online, they have added additional speakers down by the lake so that boaters will be able to enjoy the bands also. I agree with blue chair, sounds like a great time to be had !!

Do not know about this year but last year:

Bands were on an elevated stage on the Kowliga Bridge side of Sinclair's facing the lake. Stage was about 50 yds from Lake.

Food - If you bought a ticket to the Poker Run, you received a BBQ Sandwich or Boiled Shrimp for 2.

You could walk into Sinclair's and buy food or drinks if you liked.

I think the bands began around 3:30pm and ended around 7:00 or so.

Have to say if this year is anywhere near as good as last year, it is fun for the entire family.

The bands are a take off from Jimmy Buffet style music. Last year they asked for someone to put them on a boat and give them a little tour of the lake by water. It was fun. The water was low, and this allowed for the beaching of more boats. There was one accident where a lady got cut on a prop, but she was fine and taken to the hospital for stitches. Looking forward to it again this year.

I agree with Maverick, if it was like last year it will be great. Music was great, and with water up 7 feet compared to this time last year, we should be closer to the stage. I recommend doing the poker run if you can afford the gas and registration fee (tax deductible). Russell marinas give you more than $125 worth of stuff (t-shirts, huggers, canvas bags, key floats, etc.) at each stop. A whole lot of fun. This year I plan on running half speed and starting at 8 am to save fuel. Cant wait.

Yep, forgot about all the freebies -- shirts, tote bags, koozies, key chains, pirate flags, etc. Plus we split the registration fee and the cost of fuel with our lake neighbors, so really did not cost my family more than $100 for the day on the lake with live entertainment and our lake neighbors.

Plus this years flyer stated all Poker Run participants receive a 5% discount on fuel at all Russell Marines - So lets see instead of say $5.00 a gallon for premium, it will be $4.75 per gallon or something like that.

If you are interested in having a great day on the lake I would highly recommend this event, it was a blast last year for the whole family. And this year I am stuck in Bham, so I hope it rains all weekend - LOL !!!!!!

I have done the Poker Run a few times. It is a great time. The "after run" party at Sinclairs area is great. There will be lots of boats anchored out. We are sending several from Cathouse Marine. I personally can't attend the Poker Run Saturday, but I plan to attend the party after work. I think I can get there around 4:30 or so. I look foreward to seeing those of you I know. "Bling it On".

What I needed.

So you are working at ---- HILLCREST BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER / WOMEN'S & CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
Waco, Texas

I will see you next week, I am sure one of the Project Managers will know who I am referring to when I ask for the little guy from Alabama.

Remember you can run, but you cannot hide. And if you run the price of poker is going way up.

SEE YOU NEXT WEEK !!!!!!
