It is probably too late for this year, but next year we should resurect the Bridge to Bridge Classic water ski race. Is anyone interested. We could probably get Lucky and the La Points to come back if they can still walk

Are you talking about skiing from the River Bridge to Kowaliga Bridge. My father used to do that back in the 1960's

Lake Martin Power Squad use to practice doing it back then, I have heard. Fred Dobbs and others were going to ski from Birmingport to Mobile and the distance between the bridges was about the same as the distance between locks.

Then some jackass from Tuscaloosa drove a boat over a dam and messed the whole thing up.

i think it was from Montgomery to Mobile. But they completed the journey.

as to the bridge to bridge, to hear Fred and my dad tell tales, they used to handicap the race, that is, stagger start times to let the slower boaters / skiers go first, with the objective being that everyone is to go under Kowaliga bridge at the same time.
