Those that have been critical that Alabama Power was doing any releases need to look that we are 12" from full pool and still rising with another storm on the way. They will have to increase the releases to prevent potential flooding. I am sure there will be those that say it only because they want to generate cheap power for two or three hours. Not they they are controling lakes levels now and protecting peoples homes from flooding.

I'm really surprised they haven't already started releasing some in anticipation of the next storm up the coast. Must be really, really wet/full downstream.

If Gustav runs up just to our west, we may get to see Tallassee float for the first time in years!

Check the releases now F-1...they are about to pull the plug...get ready for some rough waters down stream...they could drop it pretty quickly at this rate and probably should based on the forecast...

Sweet! This will make me enjoy my A/C twice as much today!

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the water being at full pool this weekend, just interested to see how they manage this season....

Have you ever heard the expression that a high tide lifts all boats? :-) I think there was some legitimate criticism last year although more should have been directed at the USACOE about the decision to dredge in the midst of a drought. I think a lot of people have had a lot of good things to say about their management of water levels last winter (with the 483' and earlier filling) and this summer. Let's hope that APCO learned some valuable lessons last summer and can use that experience down the road.
