Many, many gas stations in B'Ham raised the prices in the last 24 hours on a gallon of regular unleaded OVER $1 per gallon. Yep, it's going for about $4.30 to 4.70 per gallon all over. And, stations are limiting purchases. And,lines are forming, and some stations are OUT.
Refineries shut down along the Gulf for Gustav/Ike and we are feeding on a dry pipeline.
And, oil prices are falling at the same time??
Folks, we dug ourselves into a hole in the last 50 years, and it is getting deeper.
And, Neither Obama nor McCain is holding a shovel!!

And President Bush would not know which end of the shovel was the handle.

Thanks Mack for the heads-up. I will need to top-off one vehicle tomorrow.

Yep. I saw yesterday that wholesale prices for gas went up 30% so I went out and filled up every car and can I own. I drove from Alabama to Ga this morning, and prices were on the rise. I saw anything from 3.55 to 3.99 on the drive, and then up to 4.59 a few hours later.

Read this ... we have plenty of oil, but the restrictions on drilling have caused higher and higher imports. Read

http://www.usgs.gov/newsroom/article.asp?ID=1911

But the problem right now is due to refineries being down, not the amount of oil. Can't get gas without refining oil.

There are stations near my home in Atlanta that have signs like the 70's ... out of gas. Some say will have gas next Tuesday. Those that still have gas have raised the price and there are lines. I waited to fill up last night for close to 30 minutes and paid $4.54.

Once the refineries in Texas come back on line the price should fall quickly since oil prices are continuing to fall.

With all due respect to your Bush derangement syndrome, he has always been for exploration off the coast and in ANWR. He recently rescinded the Executive Order by Bill Clinton (a Democrat) that prohibited drilling off the coasts. For the last 15-20 years all we hear from liberal and environmentalists (redundant I know) is that Republicans want to destroy the planet with unbridled oil exploration and now that we have the fallout they have the nerve to blame Republicans! What a complete, unmitigated joke!

It is the do-nothing Congress and decades of blocks by Democrats beholden to special interest environmental wackos that have put us in this position. It never ceases to amaze the reflexive "blame Bush" for everything mentality. You and you kind have zero credibility.

You and I agree on many things from what I have read in your past post.

You are correct in your analysis of my feelings about President Bush and his administration. I do not feel this way about the Republican Party since I claim to be a Republican.

I must assume you feel the opposite from me about President Bush. You are entitled to your view, and I do not feel any less about you personally for having your opinion. It is America.

I am sorry about the Bush derangement syndrome and maybe that doesn't apply here. There are a great many things that Bush has done that I don't like and I understand many people have good reasons for their overall negative impression of his administration. But what bothers me greatly is that he gets blamed for every bad thing that happens and gets no credit for anything positive. It just gets to the point where Bush detractors have limited credibility with me because they are so over the top in their hatred...hence the Bush derangement syndrome moniker. So blaming him for the problems we are having with oil just has no basis in fact when it is Democrats in Congress who are to blame (to the extent that domestic production will alleviate some of the pricing issues). He is either in bed with big oil and out to destroy the planet or it is his fault that we don't have sufficient domestic production but not both.

I also find it objectionable that in the course of their vitriol they attribute all sorts of evil intentions to Bush, Cheney and others in the administration. I have a strong sense that President Bush means well even if he doesn't always do well. When the criticisms become so mean spirited and vile all I can come back to is the derangement syndrome. Again, maybe that doesn't apply here and I was too quick to through it out.

By the way, that was my first flame.....did you zap me? :-)

Yes Sir, I zapped you, and it was not because of your position but rather for some of your attack based language. Maybe, I should of waited and given you a chance to explain yourself first.

I am not sure who zapped me, but it was only a slight tingle. LOL

I do in fact enjoy your post on the Forum. I can appreciate your position, and I do have enough vial in my system to also cover the Congress (both Parties). In my opinion they have all been a "do nothing bunch" and refuse to tackle the difficult issues of our time.

My dislike for President Bush is primarly due to my personal perception to his job performance as President. As a person, I am sure he is a decent American with a strong desire to serve his country. My view of his job performance is seriousely colored by the Iraq War. I am a Nam Vet. like many others on the Forum. It seems like many of us Veterans from the Nam Conflict across the country had serious concerns and misgivings about this war even from the very beginning.

The above is my view or opinion. I could be wrong since many agree with me and many disagree. We will allow history to record President Bush's satisfaction and/or approval level of the American people.

Not sure who got you but it wasn't me. Look, I have no problem with individuals that have legitimate issues with the actions of the current administration. We can have legitimate differences on policy issues but it seems to become all too personal these days and I will admit we are in the thick of it and the rheotoric (mine included) sometimes gets out of hand. I am of the opion that like Reagan, history will be kinder to Bush than his contemporaries are but time will tell. I will say that I worry greatly about the implications of Islamo-fascism and on that score I have been relatively OK with his results. On other fronts he has been a disappointment. Having siad all that, I truly believe he is a good man, even when he makes mistakes. Likewise I think Obama is a good man who loves his country but I believe to the core of my being that his prescription for America is what ails us, not what we need. Therefore I will vote for McCain whose prescription for America is only partially what ails us.......the sad but logical lesser of two evils.
