This is my first Fall living here on the lake. I know the water goes down and curtails boating, but what are the best things about life around here in the Fall?

Fewer weekenders, less traffic, quiet, calm, peaceful.

Winter is even better.

Don't let that pontoon boat get grounded. I love to cruise around and enjoy the leaves changing.

Throw in fall colors, perfect weather and the best fishing of the year. Also sitting around the fire pit after a good day of fishing(no adult beverages needed). Sunsets(sunsets and fall colors are incredible). Gazillions of stars with no clouds to block the sky. Learning things about the lake that most people will never know. Getting to meet your fulltimer neighbors that you wouldn't otherwise get to see because of the summer crowds. The laid back atmosphere when there aren't fleets of boats all over the place. Fall on the lake will draw you closer to God.

Don't forget great twilight cruises without getting run over. Fires on the lake bed on New Years eve. Cruising around and checking out the Christmas lights. Deer at your door step. No houses lit up with gigantic flood lights. Sunsets to die for. Quiet and tranquility.

It is a great time to explore the shore lines if applicable in your area. You can go down in sloughes and creeks and really get the lay of the land and where a creek really flows. Usually very quiet and peaceful. We usually have a bon fire on the shore at least once...kill 2 birds with 1 stone...marshmellows and brush riddenance. Sometimes use a little firewood to extend the ambiance.

Driving in on Friday evenings and starting the fire in the fireplace. Having bon fires on the shore with neighbors..ok...a little beer and wine helps. Somemores....remember? We keep graham crackers, marshmellows, and chocolate on hand. We play games by the fire and get rid of old lawn trash. Time to read a good book and talk. Winter is awesone too.

Everything that you've mentioned seems so nice. Right now I'm enjoying this gorgeous weather, as well as the purple and yellow wildflowers and the beautiful red foliage.
