Interesting but not a surprise. Another reason HOBO and LMRA are working to keep this from happening to our lake home prices.

In case you live in a cave, America is in a recession, and home prices across the board have fallen at least 20 to 30 percent. Lake homes aren't exempt from this. Do you honestly believe that everyone who lives on the lake pays cash for their home because only the rich want to live there? The prices were WAY over inflated because of the hurricanes of the last 6 years, and inflation in housing market in general. The entire market was based on false pretenses. People deserve what they get when home prices come back down to respectable rates.

Once again, PP, you totally missed the point. Not surprising but the point was working to avoid another lake level season like last year. You are amazing.

I would be more apt to buy there now, without water, because the water is so polluted, who needs it.

The part that says 'wait till next year when there might be water' is interesting. Considering that Lanier is so low and never really had a raise in the water level of more than a few feet, that's a pipe dream. Lake prices may not fall as rapidly as other properties, but ALL home prices are going to continue to fall till we bottom out of this recession. It may be 5 years, if then, before things are equalized.

I have a couple questions. Number one, who built the dam to begin with? Who and what is responsible for the reason the lake exists? I guarentee its not for you or anyONE else to have a home on the lake, or to profit off its existance. Second item, how are you going to keep rain coming in the likely event of a future drought? (Every 50 or so years...).......

Do you believe HOBOS can keep the rain coming? Perhaps the HOBOS have a grasp on the legality of violating mandates to send the water downstream for whatever the reason is.

But, I guess I am missing the point. I understand being upset because of losing out on investments. But if you got trapped into believing that there were thousands of families standing in line to buy 600k condos on the lake... Sorry.

Please tell us in great detail what is it that the HOBO'S have done to help
home prices from falling? I don't see any information on their site to indicate they have done anything for the lake, be it home values, shoreline management or for that matter anything at all for the lake all summer. Did you renew your membership this year? Why?
