I watched it. It looked to me like far more people were benignly watching or going about their business than gesturing, but the camera person was intent on focusing on those gesturing, judging by the tight shots. Have you ever been to a real demonstration?

I watched it and saw a group of McCain supporters marching through what appeared to be a craft show along the street. As a Libertarian, I am sure you support their right to march. I agree with you.

I saw others who appeared to oppose McCain express their disagreement. Some shouted, some gave the finger, but I saw no physical violence. I assume you saw the same as I did. As a Libertarian, I assume you support their right to expression with out any physical violence. I agree with you.

As a Libertarian you are famliar with the basis belief of your party that says :

Essentially, we believe all Americans should be free to live their lives and pursue their interests as they see fit as long as they do no harm to another.

Now, tell me what you saw in the video that was contrary to your beliefs??

We know your secrets. Did you watch it before or after taking and "asprin". :)

You and your husband are an embarrassment. You vote for who you want, but please don't call yourself an american. Now we understand why you want the government to take care of you and control your medical coverage. What a joke.

I'm not sure what you are referring to about "secrets" and "pills" that I take, unless you are referring to the 10mg of Lipitor I take daily for my cholesterol. But, I don't like your insinuations.
So, I am proposing that you and I meet in a public place some time this week -- your choice and you can explain to me, face-to-face, exactly what it is that you are referring to. Because I am tired of you hiding behind some little alias and making slanderous comments, and I don't think you have enough intestinal fortitude to tell me to my face exactly what you are talking about.
We can discuss all my "secrets" if you like. And we can post the results of our discussion here on this forum, so then everyone will know.

You are an angry and hostile person. You need to get some help. But, you don't intimidate me.

Just rumors so if you say it is not true I believe you. Just hard to understand someone can be so ignorant and blind to support someone with 143 days experience (after being a community organizer and lawyer suing banks that did not give enough sub prime mortgages) and the ties he has to terrorists and felons and CEO's that were booted for corruption and all the statements he has made that are clear socialism and redistribution of wealth. When only 65% of americans pay taxes how is he going to give tax cuts to 95%? The only way is to give handouts. I am sure you will be there with yours out. "Please take care of me government". So it seems you are the only one that is angry and hostile. I am sure by your response to that video you would be doing the same. The thing is with liberals like you, if someone does not agree with you then they are absolutely wrong.

We survied 4 years of Jimmy Carter (barely) when the left was screaming about Nixon .... and look what we got ... double digit inflation and unemployment with mortage rates hitting 17%. That is what liberal policies bring you along with cuts in military spending that weaken our nation. Fortunately the american public saw the mistake they made and we elected Ronald Regan to save this country.

I do hope we survive 4 years of Obama with his 143 days exerience. But I do fear his socialist views could destroy this country and as he weakens our military, the terrorists will smel blood and attack again since we will allow them to reunite and plan another attack.

God help us.

I don't have a problem with people expressing their views as we all have freedom of speech. When I see an Obama sign or bumper sticker, sticking up my middle finger has never occurred to me. I just shake my head and feel sorry for them. These upper west side liberals seemed very angry for a group supposedly dedicated to diversity and tolerance. I guess that only applies to people or ideals that agree with theirs...........to me just another shining example of liberal hypocrisy.

Booing is childish and the middle finger is inappropriate. But, obviously, these McCain/Palin fans knew they were going into a strong Obama/Biden area of support. As one of the responses said, "If Obama supporters marched through rural Alabama, they could only hope for such a welcome reception."

But perhaps you should give this a look! At least we get to hear the actual McCain supporters and don't have to read some inflamatory words imposed over the video.

This is very disturbing to me.

The McCain - Palin campaign events are enabling the kind of racist, xenophobic and vicious responses that tend to accompany hysterical fear turned and turn it to unthinking anger. It's scaring a lot of people, including Republican moderates (the ones that are left).

Some examples:

Former McCain supporter Frank Schaeffer:

John McCain: If your campaign does not stop equating Sen. Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as "not one of us," I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence.
At a Sarah Palin rally, someone called out, "Kill him!" At one of your rallies, someone called out, "Terrorist!" Neither was answered or denounced by you or your running mate, as the crowd laughed and cheered. At your campaign event Wednesday in Bethlehem, Pa., the crowd was seething with hatred for the Democratic nominee - an attitude encouraged in speeches there by you, your running mate, your wife and the local Republican chairman.

Shame!

[snip]

John McCain, you are no fool, and you understand the depths of hatred that surround the issue of race in this country. You also know that, post-9/11, to call someone a friend of a terrorist is a very serious matter. You also know we are a bitterly divided country on many other issues. You know that, sadly, in America, violence is always just a moment away. You know that there are plenty of crazy people out there.

Stop! Think! Your rallies are beginning to look, sound, feel and smell like lynch mobs.

John McCain, you're walking a perilous line. If you do not stand up for all that is good in America and declare that Senator Obama is a patriot, fit for office, and denounce your hate-filled supporters when they scream out "Terrorist" or "Kill him," history will hold you responsible for all that follows.

John McCain and Sarah Palin, you are playing with fire, and you know it. You are unleashing the monster of American hatred and prejudice, to the peril of all of us. You are doing this in wartime. You are doing this as our economy collapses. You are doing this in a country with a history of assassinations. (Baltimore Sun)

David Frum at The National Review:

Those who press this Ayers line of attack are whipping Republicans and conservatives into a fury that is going to be very hard to calm after November. Is it really wise to send conservatives into opposition in a mood of disdain and fury for a man who may well be the next president of the United States, incidentally the first African-American president? Anger is a very bad political adviser. It can isolate us and push us to the extremes at exactly the moment when we ought to be rebuilding, rethinking, regrouping and recruiting. (National Review Online)

David Gergen:

"One of the most striking things we've seen in the last few day, we have seen it at the Palin rallies and we saw it at the McCain rally today," said David Gergen, appearing on Anderson Cooper 360 Thursday evening. "And we saw it to a considerable degree during the rescue package legislation. There is a free-floating sort of whipping-around anger that could really lead to some violence. And I think we're not far from that."
"I really worry when we get people -- when you get the kind of rhetoric that you're getting at these rallies now," said Gergen. "I think it's really imperative the candidates try to calm people down." (via Rachel Weiner at HuffPo)

Former Michigan Republican Gov. William Milliken:

"He is not the McCain I endorsed," said Milliken, reached at his Traverse City home Thursday. "He keeps saying, 'Who is Barack Obama?' I would ask the question, 'Who is John McCain?' because his campaign has become rather disappointing to me.
"I'm disappointed in the tenor and the personal attacks on the part of the McCain campaign, when he ought to be talking about the issues." (Grand Rapids Press)

Republican consultant Michelle Laxalt:

"They have send this young, naive -- very confident, perhaps in Alaska -- young woman out with the most incendiary talking points, the most dangerous racist talking points and I think they should be ashamed of themselves," Laxalt told CNN's Larry King Thursday night. (Raw Story)

Dan Balz, WaPo:

But what's also clear is that McCain's tactics are over the line, with no restraint in sight, and threaten to provoke reactions among partisans on both sides that will continue to escalate.
The RNC's new ad attacks Obama for his questionable association with convicted developer Tony Rezko, for his ties to Ayers and, perhaps most inexplicably, for taking advice from William Daley, the brother of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. Bill Daley is described as heir to the Chicago machine. The ad does not mention the mayor.

This is the same Bill Daley who served as commerce secretary in the Clinton administration and who seemed to have a harmonious relationship with the then-chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, one John McCain. (Washington Post)

McCain supporter and Republican Congressman Ray LaHood:

Rep. LaHood, who has represented Illinois' 18th district for seven terms and is retiring in January, told WBBM Radio that Palin should control the racially-charged heckling at her rallies:
"Look it. This doesn't befit the office that she's running for. And frankly, people don't like it."
Some of the names Obama is being called, which include "terrorist" and "traitor," "certainly don't reflect the nature of the man," LaHood said to WBBM. (Sam Stein, HuffPo)

I consider myself conservative. I watched the video. Obama is running against McCain, not Palin. Why didn't the journalist (if you can call him that) ask the interviewees when they first heard of John McCain? The answer is pretty evident.

He obviously had an agenda and I don't agree with his brand of ambush journalism any more than that used occasionally by Fox News.

Sorry, your video did nothing to convince me. There is no doubt that John McCain has far more experience and has given much more of himself for our country. He has a long record to stand on. I can't say the same for his opponent.

Lady, you are a joke. Get your facts straight. There is NOTHING wrong with pointing out FACTS about the opponent. When it is something as serious as having your political career started in the home of a terrorist who bombed the pentagon..... that is something that needs to be released. How can you look past the facts that are overwhelmingly against Obama.... the reason that we are in the financial mess that we are in is not because of the Bush administration it is because of OBAMA and his friends. Look it up.. the facts are there, the Bush administration has tried to fix it since 2002!!!! Stop trying to turn this into a race issue it is pitiful that you would even go there. The only people that have tried to turn it into a racial issue is Obama's own party. You seem to forget or maybe overlook the fact that there has been violent protesting by liberals outside of McCain rallies that has had to be controlled by police. Besides to say that this is a Black-White issue is rediculous. If you would like to do some research you can see that Obama is 45% Arabic 5% African and 50% White. He is more of an Arab American than an African American. Do your research.

He adopted a black daughter .... what a racist !

Wake up ... Obama is scary. His thinking, the change he wants to inflict on this country, his socialist views, the people he associates with, the positions he takes and changes for political gain, his lack of experience, the support for sub prime mortgages, his association with Acorn .... on and on ... when are people like you going to wake up and realize that if it was just one of these things you may have an argument for someone questioning .... but there are so many it points to his lack of judgement. We are talking about leading the most powerful nation on earth during a time of war and economic crisis that was caused by liberal democratic policy, with a man with 143 days of experience as a junior senator.

Get real.

the liberals think if anyone dare question this man they must be a racist. they are blind to how scary he really is and the destruction of our capitalist society that he proposes. If elected, he will move the US to what would be a liberal socialist economy that will destroy what has made us great and what has been the envy of other nations.

Do the liberals remember Jimmy Carter? Do they think the Soviet Union would be gone and Russia a democracy if it was not for Regan and dealing from strength?

We may get stuck with Obama, but God help us and i do hope people stand up against him destroying our country.

.....thats all we ever get from libs. Well that and finger pointing, which finger depends on the situation.

Funny also how if the messiah draws 70 thousand to an event, that happens to be proceeded by a rock concert, it is BIG NEWS on all the alphabets. Sarah is drawing 60K+ on a regular basis, but you would never know by watching the evening news..

Hound, you are free to help anybody you want. Why do you have to have the government do it for you, or a church for that matter. Find someone in need and help them. It ain't rocket science. There are VERY FEW poor folks in this country. If you have a car, cell phone, cable TV hooked to a big screen...... you aren't POOR, you are lazy and worhtless. The middle class in Europe would rather be poor in America.

Typical liberal .... here is what you said:

"I am proposing that you and I meet in a public place some time this week -- your choice "

Then you say no and say it has to be at your house.

Why can't a liberal say what they mean. Instead when called on it they change their position. They never stick to what they say, always flip flopping.

I guess that was to be expected. I even offered to buy so ... i know you have your hand out for the government to take care of you .... so I was going to start the redistribution of wealth by buying lunch for you at a nice restaurant.

Although the chairs are a bit small. Is that a problem? But you can order all you want and even take home the left overs.

Not all all ... you can get direct flights to both Tokyo and Seoul from Atlanta ... check it out for yourself. You lose 12 hours going but make them up coming back ... so I leave on Monday and return on Monday. Flying business class on Korean Air.

I have no reason to lie like you do ... I go there all the time on business and am there a couple days and back. This one happens to be business and pleasure for a wedding of a business contact.

Why do liberals like you that can not ever tell the truth think everyone else lies as well.

The offer still stands ... you said my choice and i gave it to you ... you said public place, not your home .... so i gave you that as well. Be a no show and prove you are a liar just like GF.

lv 11:20a Korean Air 7036 direct to Seoul from Atlanta 13 hrs 30 minutes
rt 10:00a Korean Air 35 direct to Atlanta 12 hrs 30 minutes (tail wind)

Now big mouth .... seems you are the only liar. Funny how liberals are always the one lying so they think others do too.

Talullahhound, he has you dead to rights. That is a very plausible itinerary.

He would leave Friday, arrive Saturday afternoon, then leave Monday morning and get to Atlanta Monday morning.

I wouldn't want to do it, but have done similar "crazy" things like that in the past. I have flown over the pond many times as well, both in Business and Coach class, and can tell you that being up front significantly reduces the fatigue factor.

Over to you.

I looked at the menu and if the food is as good as the menu, I'll be going there the next time I'm in Atlanta. Its the real deal. Real prosciutto...buffalo mozarella...and the plate featured on the web site is one of my favorites - in Italy it is called linguine ala scoglio......mmmmm

Trick is to sleep as much as you can in bus class, then stay up as long as possible after you land to get on their time. My asscociates will have a car pick me up, then after checking in to the hotel, we then go somewhere traditional authentic Korean for dinner, after dinner the scotch and beer comes out (they do not drink during dinner). That will pretty much put me out. My adjustment normally is after I get back since you arrive back at almost the same time you leave, on the same day.

I do this at least 6 times a year. I do normally stay longer, but this is just out of respect for my friends and business associates over there. I realize liberals do not think that way.

It is a great place. While dinner is excellent as well ... i go there too much at lunch to go for dinner. Atlanta has so many excellent restaurant choices. After NYC, and San Francisco, Atlanta would rank in the top 10 best chef driven restaurants.

There are a lot of law firms around there. The whole Buckhead Life group restaurants are all excellent. Pricci on Phar road is another favorite ... also Italian. If you like seafood, The Atlanta Fish Market is outstanding. For steaks, Chops is one of the best steakhouses in the country .... but talk about pricy .... it is hard for two people to walk out of there for less than $250-$300 depending on the wine you select and any cocktails. That is an expense account only restaurant for dinner .... at least for me.

I really hate that place. I don't care for Bob Amric that also owns One Midtown Kitchen (which is ok) and Trois which is an over priced French Restaurant .... but Two is a "trendy" place and way too many 20 somethings for my liking. They can keep it and call it their own.

Agreed that One is nothing special and Three is way overpriced but I think Two is pretty good and definitely fair priced. On the other hand I didn't know us twenty somethings could ruin a restaurant so badly. I went to a bachelor party that started the night off there and thought the atmosphere was nice, granted we were in our own room.
