Probably another Russell Lands development, this one one Elkahatchee Creek, if it's the same one I'm thinking about.

Nope. To the best of my knowledge, it is not Russell Lands. Last I heard, it's the same developers as the Cove. But I could be wrong. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I think they plan to sell on and off water lots there.

One mile from Alex City on the left. -- Do not think you are at the lake yet.

So I think you are speaking of the large cleared area (clear cut) at the intersection of Hwy 63 and where you turn left to head up to Wind Creek State Park.

If so, that area has been like that for over a year or more.

I'm not sure what the plans are for the large cleared area near the Wind Creek turn-off, but I'm not sure that's what the original poster is talking about. Back towards Alex City, very close to the Elkahatchee Bridge, there is another cleared area, though you have to look close to see it, because of the thin buffer of trees. But this area has Russell signs around it, and it would be on the lake; I consider Elkahatchee Creek part of the lake, since you can get to the bridge by boat from the lake.

I believe he is talking about the road being cut in to the east off 63 - they have built a mock grist mill at the entrance - looks like a housing development to me.

It was suppose to be shops, offices and a restaurant, but they have slowed things down. Both do to the economy and low lake the last two years .... and because Russell is putting in their own shops and restaurants further up on 63 near the turn for the Ridge.
