Does that mean that we (The people that use Center Hill Lake, outside of Nashville) finally get rid of him and his snobby attitude from this area???? I hope that he and his family treat ya'll better than he does the nieghbors and long time residents here!!!!

Have a nice day!!!

Some celebrity is always rumored to be buying that place. Is there any evidence it has actually been for sale?

no evidence, that's why I put it out here for the mythbuster crew to confirm or bust

Well... it was much prettier when it had water in it!!!! Last I heard it was down about fifteen feet.....
Mostly because of leaks around the dam... (this area of Tennessee is full of cave systems). They (U.S.C.E.) have been working on this problems openly for about three or four years. However.... fifteen years ago they were " Just checking on a small seeepage problem" They were drilling and putting rods into the bedrock from what I remember.

When the lake is full, is is probably the second or third most beautiful lake in TN.

Have a nice day.

I have family in Newnan that know his family, I can investigate. From what I hear from them, he spent alot of time on LM when he was younger.

Don't know about all areas, but in some I've been around, such properties are not normally listed.
Could you imagine all the lookers who would pretend to be buyers?

My father in law is looking into it. He told me the Jackson's had a small cabin on LM before Alan was famous. The family sold it and used the money to help his career get off the ground.

I wouldn't know him or most celebrities unless they have a sign around their neck stating so, but my son said Allen was on a boat with friends this summer. He was working the fuel pumps and recognized him. Now that Jay Barker married into Nashville, Hollywood and Nashville have been showing up in the area and ball games. One of the chicks from Desperate House Wives was in T Town for homecoming with Jay and wife.
That house is such a "look at me" house. I just don't see anyone trying to get away from it all wanting to purchase it. It gets way too much attention from the Health South scandals.

The current owner is still: SCRUSHY, RICHARD M, that place is actually 5 lots and property taxes are a whopping $18,758.40 a year. WOW, I wonder how many folks in that county has less income per year than that!

I have heard the same rumor. I would think that if anyone in this area knew it would be someone connected to Childrens Habor as Alan actively supports this charity.

Does not seem high enough. Lets say the 5 lots are worth $750 apiece and the house is about 12,000 sq ft at $300 per foot for a grand total of $7,350,000. So the effective tax rate is about 2 tenths of a percent (0.2%). Using the same methodology mine comes to 0.36%, almost twice as high. Seems like we have been Schrushied again!!!!!

Those numbers came right from the current Tallapoosa County tax records.

I was not challenging you - just a commentary on what must have been a low assessment of the property.

Understood, I was just throwing that out there, started to post all 5 values and taxes for each but thought that would be a little much.

While $19m is a lot of money, for a home that size and value with that much property it is CHEAP ! My main home is in Atlanta and it is about 4,500 sq ft on a half acre lot and the property taxes are over $9,000

Wow, 4,500 feet on a 1/2 acre, you must be able to hear your next-door neighbor cut the cheese in the mornings.
They do pack them in in Atlanta…….

What specifically did Mr. Jackson and family do to cause you to feel this way?? I would really like to know.
Parker Creek East to West served as a Launch Pad for, Count'em, 2 Cigarette Boats, 2 Seaplanes and a Gulf Trawler ( green and white @35') , all perfectly great for an OCEAN somewhere. All were docked there at one time at the place in question.
But, the final question is, "Did it bother us?"

Not really. Just for a few seconds at 70 MPH. PLUS, it provided GREAT conversation around the BBQ grill about what "Richard" did today?? How much money does he have? Did you hear that party music last weekend? I hear he is going to jail??

I HOPE somebody buys the place who has enough political influence to keep OUR LAKE from being drained dry by Georgia/Atlanta down the road.
Just my thoughts.

Now I might be a little slow so please bear with me, just how is Georgia/Atlanta going to drain Lake Martin Dry?
Our release water does not go up to Atlanta, or even into Geirgia?

But, the water flowing down the Tallapoosa comes right out of Western Georgia.

Something like 20% of the Tallapoosa watershed is in Georgia. What is bad is in 1987 an agreement was reached with Georgia for them to take 25% of that water. North Alabama interests fought that and the agreement was abandoned.

That is not "draining" our lake. Draining is water removed after it has come into the lake.

Mack... I don't have much time, but.... To start with the property that he got a lease for was very wooded. It is inside of Corps control area. The trees cut down are supposed to be kept to a minimum. However, that didn't allow aenough view from the house that he had built. Some how, all of the trees from the house down to the lake were cut by mistake. : 0
I have a friend whose family has leased to property directly next to them for over thirty years. They have had nothing but trouble with the Jacksons. Form being just plain rude to them (remember... they are neighbors) to driving like maniacs down the very small access road.
The small town folks from Smithville haven't had much better dealing either... gotta go!

Crappy : )

Thanks for the correct definition of drainage caused by Geirgia.
My bad. I still don't want a source of water for LM blocked or reduced. The Water War is still not over.

Yep. That would cause his neighbors some problems. Me too.
Some of the same Rule Bending has happened on LM. And, still happens.
Hopefully, whoever takes over this property will be a genuine Lake person and will conduct themselves with consideration for others.

Speaking of rule slippage, does anyone know why the building stopped on the lot they created up near river north? It is right before you turn to go up to river north from the big water. Looks like they built the lot, poured the foundation and then stopped? If a house were built there it would block the view of 3 or 4 homes that were already there.

DJ:

Have wondered the same thing. But my question would be for that lot where are the septic field lines going to go to be outside the xx foot rule from the water as that lot is not that big and the house takes up the majority of the lot.

So there might be the answer.

Then again before I spent all that money to improve that lot (basically build it / reclaim the land, as it was underwater) I would have made darn sure I could have a septic tank. And if I were the neighbors back in that slough I would madder than you know what as they had a gorgeous view and now that the land was reclaimed and the concrete poured foundation built they have lost their once nice view of the lake.

I was also wondering how they got a permit to "reclaim" the lot, my buddy was buying a lot and had the shoreline management guy out to look it over and he would not allow him to reclaim 5 feet of the lot that was documented as having been there. So just how did that project get approved and who approved it?
