Any truth to the rumor that the new restaurant at Russell Crossroads is named after our Catherine on the forum?

No, the real Catherine moved to California and died. She use to have a store on 63.

The Catherine on the forum and the store took the name from the same woman. The forum Catherine is really a middle aged homosexual male, with a GED that likes to think that he can fool others into thinking he is well educated and had a high position at RL.

This same person has used other names on this and other local forums. All have exhibited negative attitudes.

None. As I hear it Catherine was a little old black lady that ran a general store which is still visible at the intersection of Windermere Road and Hwy 63. She sold general merchandise back in the farming days and when they built the dam. As the story goes she sold shine out of the back door.

Pretty cool story and I assume that is where the name came from. I am sure Ben came up with the name.

The real story is available in the book "Growing Up," by Bailey Jones. (BAJ to some of us old-timers.) It's an interesting story, maybe somebody who knows him can get him to post it here. I'd do it myself, but I don't want to do all that typing. LOL!!

I think I found the story you're talking about online, and it doesn't look like it has been up long. I guess you can take credit for that, or even if you can't maybe you should. :-)

The real story - jalcz - 1/7/2009 5:57:15 PM

SO IN OTHER WORDS JALCZ SAID SOMEBODY NEEDED TO POST THAT STORY AFTER IT WAS ALREADY ONLINE FOR A HOUR. NOT SO IMPRESSIVE, WHO COULDNT DO THAT? FOR EXAMPLE I PREDICT THAT SWIMMER WILL MAKE A POST SAYING HIS SUSPICIONS ARE CONFIRMED.
