I was there today and they working on the horrible parking lot/drive. It appeared that they are smoothing the surface a bit.
I was disappointed that the employees seemed to outnumber the customers in there about 3 to 1. The fish they had out was looking rather tired too. I was there around 11:30 and not too many people seemed to be arriving for lunch. I picked up some of their black eyed pea salad and had it for lunch. It was just outstanding -- peas weren't mushy and it wasn't over dressed.
I really hope that they can hang on there until the season starts. It's so nice having having them and I'll be really disappointed if they don't make it.

How far from Catherine's are you? How long is the trip?

It's a pretty good haul for me. I. It takes me about 35-40 minutes to get there since I live in the Parker Creek area. But, it's still much closer than Montgomery for those items I can't find in Winn Dixie or Walmart.

It would be a pretty good haul for me also, probably even farther. I am Parker Creek also, but down Coosa 2 near the marina. The way the crow flies the new development is rather close, but probalby a good 45 mins to get there. I was wondering how many folks on this side would frequent the stores.

Cathouse is only about 45 minutes from Parker Creek. I expect to see your boat here soon! We gotta eat also, and Madison needs some new shoes. (Had to responde) I wish them good luck.

Now, Cat, I think the craze about Catherine's is the offering of prime cut steaks, delicacy salads, bread I can't pronounce, wine with a pedigree, and green salad additives that I don't recognize. Something more than the fire sale stuff at PIggly. I know Mrs. Cat (and Mr. Cat) are fantastic cooks and hosts, but do you have that sort of cuisine in south Autauga county? Or is your offering more like mine here.....Coosa County 'surf and turf' means Leke Martin catfish and venison tenderloin?

Can't there be room for both? Venison steaks and fried catfish for those that want that, and aged prime beef that prefer that?

Nothing wrong with any of it. It's just a matter of mood at the time.

the place is set up for those lake residents in a reasonable distance. My drive would be about 2 hours roundtrip from Parker Creek, and I ain't gonna' do that on a Saturday Night for a special lettuce or olive oil. Especially, being overserved with a fine wine before driving.
Bling on the catfish and hushpuppies from the deck!

We're about 45 min drive also. A few years ago we'd have driven over for some things just as we have gone to Montgomery. Not in todays economy. Do without, or when possible, go there when we have a reason to be nearby.
Hope they hang on. Hey, thats about what we are all doing anyways.

Don't know you or aytbody else on the Forum, as far as I know. But, I would like to. Maybe some day?? And, maybe some of them, not all.
My Hispanic Firecracker and I bought property on LM long ago, as a retreat, away from the grind of business life. Friday Night Cocktail Cruise, Oh my goodness! Still works.
You and yours will be welcome at our our dock any time. Complete with Cerveza Fria and a smile. Warning!! You come in with a big wake behind and all bets are off.

Cerveza Fria means COLD BEER in Spanish. Thought you might need an interpreter - LOL.

Now quit thinking about Cerveza Fria and go find my truck.

See you in about 2 months bringing the Mastercraft for a complete once over has not been tuned in 10 years and figured it is about time for a complete once over. That is if I have a truck to haul it to Cathouse.

Call me have changed my mind on truck. Now looking for a 2007 Black Avalanche 4x4 with Leather and Tow package, etc.
