OK just back from the boat show and more confused then before I left.

So was looking for a performance pontoon boat and looked at the Premier Grand Majestic with 30" PTX and the Bennington RLi with the ESP center tube.

Now if anyone has either of these boats I would appreciate your comments on:

- Turning radius
- Quality of ride in rough water
- Overall build quality
- Problems with boat
- Problem with the dealer
- Any other comments

Thank You !!!!

Maverick, I did almost a year of research before buying my pontoon boat. The best boat for the money is the Yamaha G3 series. No marines on Lake Martin are selling them, why I don’t know. I got a great deal on mine at Mims Marine. The tri-toon at 22 to 24’ with a 150 Yamaha 4 stroke is all you need. Rides great in rough water, pulls two skiers with ease, runs 40 wide open. My buddy decided to sell his old pontoon and spent six months shopping around, in the end he bought a G3. You can pay more, but you will not get a better boat for the money.

I purchased a Premier Grand Majestic at the boat show last year. I spent about two years in research. All I can say is for you to watch their online video. I purchased my Grand Majestic PTX with the Yamaha 250.
This may be too much power for you, but I find it very responsive to my needs. In calm winds with just the driver it will top out at 54 mph. Not bad for a pontoon.

I have been very pleased with my boat as well as with the local Lake Martin dealer. The workmanship, quality and performance out matched my expectations.

Thanks for the info and no the Yamaha 250 is exactly what I looking for and also the 25 Grand Majestic with 30" PTX.

Does your boat have the power assist steering or just the basic Sea Star hydraulic steering and how is the turning radius and steering ease?

Also one of my desires is to ensure I find a boat that can easily handle the rough water of say Kowliaga Bay on a busy weekend. Bscially, Do you hit the chop and disperse the wave action and zip right through with any easy smooth ride or do you sort of hit the chop and then bounce, bounce, bounce through the chop? As would like my elder parents to enjoy the lake as much as we do but need a easy ride for them at say 30 miles per hour without the bounce, bounce, bounce in chop.

Thanks again for the info very much appreciated.

Regardless of the boat you buy, with 250 hp I strongly recommend the power assist option. The larger engine almost overpowers the std SeaStar. We sold a 24' trilog Sundancer with a 225 Honda and at top speed it was very difficult to turn, took both hands. We installed the power assist and now it will turn wide open with one finger. Customer went from unhappy to very happy. The option is well worth the money.
