Nancy Killefer - When her nomination was announced by Obama on Jan. 7, The Associated Press disclosed that in 2005 the District of Columbia government had placed a lien on her home in the upscale Wesley Heights neighborhood. The local government alleged that she had started missing payments on unemployment compensation tax for a household employee. And she failed to make the required quarterly payments for a year and half, whereupon a lien for $946.69 was placed on her home.

I mean, geez...she couldn't pay $946.60 ????? What is wrong with these people? (and why am I paying my taxes so diligently every years?)

The way I look at it, if all of the cabinet appointees pay all the back taxes they owe, they can fund the "stimulus" package, and the rest of us schmucks won't have to take a tax increase!

And now Daschle has bowed out. Not going so smoothly for BO, is it?

He still had full support of the O and the Dems. Don't know where the pressure came from, but it was clearly the right call.

First, all current and former politicians of both parties should have their taxes audited immediately. This is a crisis and we need to have these audits done ASAP. If they can raise our taxes we need to know if they are paying theirs!

Second, the BO transition team should do the audits because they apparently have a hit rate of about 30% in finding tax cheats.

My thoughts exactly. All Washington politicians, elected or appointed, are audited. Back taxes > $determined figure = Go Home!
