Has anyone heard anything about Charter setting a Cap (limit) on download time? I heard they are going to place a cap of 20 hours of download time a month for the largest packages even less for smaller pkgs. which will affect everything from surfing to watching videos, playing games (if you do or your kids do) etc. and if you go over they will charge $1.00 or more per overage which can get really costly! I also heard that charter will be holding a public meeting on this at the Feb 16th Council meeting (guessing it is in Alex city). here is a link that describes this better then I can, I am far from tech savy :)

If you have the 250GB plan it would equate to "about" downloading 53 movies that are around 4.7GB each or 71,428 songs that are 3.5MB each that is a lot of data to download in a month.

Download is not just things you save to your computer. It includes surfing the web, email, every page you visit is "downloaded" to your computer. Actually, more than that as it also takes "overhead" to know the address to send the info to.
As more people turn to streaming video, the cap limits will be quite reachable.
I do not trust ISP's. If only some 1% would be affected, then how much of a "problem" is this really?

My favorite pastime is watching movies from my Netflix account through my Roku box I bought from Netflix. With bandwidth restrictions such as this I would use up my quota quickly. Glad I am not a Charter customer.

thanks for the tip. I will look into this. I have Charter cable and internet at home, and I use it to upload / download tons of video for the biz. Thanks again.
