If I was coming from the north..... take I-65 to Wetumpka exit or get off in Birmingham and take 280 down to Alex City? I am not sure which would be quickest/easiest.....

Yup, 280.. I-65 south to I-459 and 4 miles to 280 south.. about 75 miles to Alex City from there..

this is not new news ... but all Interstates and I believe all state roads as well that are even numbers run east/west and odd numbers are north/south.

If i were to take the "shortcut" you mentioned... I wouldn't desecrate Bryant-Denny like that... I would however stop in at Dreamland "the old is the only one for me" and pig out on some ribs!!!!! I spent some of my high school years in Homewood.. So i do know not to take the interstate towards Tuscaloosa. : ) Just couldn't remember if it was shother to take 280 or I-65 then over. I remember when Lloyds was WAAAYYY out of B'ham.....

Plan on trying to make it down there this summer... probably around June. I have may fond memories fo LM as a teenager.
