about the 2010 budget as proposed is to give more money to the VA to take care of our veterans. So many of these young people are returning from combat with severe injuries and will need lifelong care. Additionally, there are so many with PTSD, and the new budget will call for additional funds for mental health.

I don't know how much play it got down here, but a while back there was much written in the Washington Post about Walter Reed and the conditions that the injured Vets were experienceing there. It was so disheartening and really disgusting to see what these young people were having to go through just to get some medical care.

Additionally, a lot are returned from the battlefield with injuries that would have killed them years ago. Advances in battlefield medicine now allows these young men and women to be saved and returned home to their families -- but likely will need institutional care for the rest of their lives.

We owe as much to our veterans as we do to our active duty troops, and I'm glad to see some money potentially flowing their way.

Agree with your idea that everyone should be able to agree on this issue........but, when reality sets in on spending priorities this will be an easy one to backslide on........just a fact of life in the sausage making process. Some of the big cuts that BHO budgeted for are already coming under sharpe criticism from D's and R's ......such as the removal or dimunition of tax credits for charity contributions for those over $250k. All of these issues will put big pressure on the spending side.......
