Food was good but the service was horrible. Not crowded at all.

We arrive and inform the waiter we are ready to order when he take our drink order, says he will be right back, 10-15 minutes later he shows back up.

After sitting there for about 30 minutes after placing our order and noticing 2 other parties (one is a rather large party) which came in after us had received their orders I asked the waiter to please check on our order as that made no senses.

10 more minutes goes by, no waiter, so I get up and go find him in the lobby area and inquire about the status of what he found out reply - Oh yea, let me go check.

5 minutes goes by and he comes back and tells us our order was served to another table (yea right, he never put in our order or the kitchen misplaced our order one or the other) and our food would be out in 6 minutes or less. My Father, who is a diabetic tells the waiter (as he is at his wits end) just cancel our order and he say whatever, and my Father's wife knowing that his blood sugar is low says no do not cancel the order, but it needs to be here ASAP.

Food comes in about 6 minutes and I ask for ketchup for my fries, waiter says OK be right back. 10 minutes goes by and no ketchup he comes back by and I ask for ketchup again, oh yea he states and he proceeds to walk 10 feet from our table and opens the door under the cash register and there is the ketchup.

Let just say it has probably been 30+ years since I have not left one penny for a tip, but this waiter was the WORST waiter I have ever experienced in my life and I have had some pretty poor service over the years.

Moral to the story if you go to Sinclair's it appears it is hit or miss on the service and if your waiters initials are JB get up and run out the door as fast as you can.

Now for a brighter note went to Grillin Shack Friday night for dinner and food was good, service was great and the owner was out in the dining room ensuring his customers were happy with their food and satisfied by the service. Owner stopped at our table about 3 times during the course of the hour or so we were there.

So might I suggest that Sinclair's take a page out of the Grillin Shack's book and have it's manager roaming the floors to ensure everyone is having a satisfying dining experience. That is called service, a very easy concept and business 101, and something Sinclair's still has not learned. Not once did we see the manager and he was supposedly told about our issues as our bill cut in half, but what made me mad was that the manager did not come and apologize for the lousy service and thought a 50% reduction in our bill of a whopping $32.00 (before the discount) would make us happy - OH SO WRONG !!!!

did it ever occur to you to go ask for the manager--duh ? i wouldnt have wasted all that time ! I have been going to Sinclairs for 8 years--just lucky i guesss, as i have never had a bad experience with staff or food--only with rude children whose parents wont watch or discipline them

Can't you find something better to do than sit around and trash someone's business on the internet?

....heard from....lol. I would bet my bottom dollar that if JB voted he voted for the mesiah, but either way is now thrilled with what the chosen one is doing.

I think it is a shame that Sinclair's on the lake doesn't train their staff in customer service. And it is unthinkable that the manager wouldn't personally come out to apologize. We often eat at the Sinclair's on Vaugh Road in Montgomery and the service is always good, so it's not a company wide problem. Maybe they need to get a new manager.

Next time - if there is one - you might ask explicitly to have the manager come to your table. Then if you get the runaround ask for the owner's contact information. I agree with Hound about the Sinclairs on Vaughn Road - in fact had brunch there yesterday.

After many years of visiting Sinclair's with my wife, you just have to keep it simple when they first come to the table. I want two Miller Lites, fried cheese sticks, fried crab claws and the fried grouper bites. And bring the check when you bring me the food. Anything beyond that is way over their training level. Sit at the bar inside or out for better service.

After the SPONTAINIOUS 4th of July wet Tshirt contest three years ago, they canned a bunch of the management. It has been down hill ever since.

BRING BACK THE WET TSHIRT CONTEST.

Agree 100% ... that place does not understand the concept of training or what real service should be in a restaurant. I am hopeful the new restaurant behind Catherines will be much better. Catherines is great, so I am encouraged they understand how to train and provide service in a restaurant as well.

I avoid Sinclairs at all costs now ... I have gone due to lack of choice and tollerated the poor food and service. But now that Catherines market is there, if we don't feel like cooking we pick up food to go and it is great. Or we make the drive to LaPosoda where the food is good and the service can not be beat.

Yep, that fire 10 years ago cost this area so much more than a building.

I just hate it when "accidents" happen, don't you?

For those of us who don't live on the lake it is good to hear about the service and food at local restaurants. I would assume he didn't make it up and based on the other responses his experience is not unique. You see the whole point of the forum is to share information.

Just my .02 worth here. But I know and have personally done business with the Maverick. I think he is giving just the facts here. He will speak his mind but it is usually pretty objective and fair. If he say's the service was bad, I believe him, it was bad.

Eat nothing else.

All of us know that service/food is "acceptable" at Sinclairs. We all go back because there are very few options. We can bi+++ and moan, but we go back. Green Valley Market & Cafe has good food on Friday and Saturday nights. I am looking forward to Spring Valley's opening.

For those of us who live here full-time, we now have "options", or for the "weekend" folks, isn't it great? We can now support the entire community.

Green Valley has best meat and prices....Catherine's has good cheese selection and seafood. Sinclair's has best "onion rings"....Green Valley has best "chicken salad"....and I'm waiting for Spring Valley to say they have the best of.....

And, oh by the way, (?) can you tell I live on this side of the lake?

Yes that would be worth going back there for. Certainly not the food or service.

that would be the Spring House and the prices won't compare to Green Valley I doubt

You're right. Spring Valley prices will be higher than Green Valley but, that's OK. If the food is half as good as the restaurant in Birmingham (Hot 'N Hot Fish), it will be great. I will be enjoying the food at both places.

Hey Maverick!!!!! This is JB The server from Sinclairs that you are talking about! Just wanted to let you know that it was not my fault about your food so you can shut up talking about me! I gave your table excellent service and you would have been fine but there was a minor mix-up in the kitchen! Also you need to try to work in a restaurant when it is short staffed due to employees calling in sick on a short notice. Someone like you though has probably never worked a day in your life and had everything given to you! Me on the other hand I work for everything! Also I remember that you did not have any complaints with me at the time but you sure can talk a lot of smack on the computer! So if you would please put the bottle down, get your facts straight, go back to school and learn how to use proper grammar in your comments, and never mention JB again because I gave you good service, brought out your salads, kept your drinks full, and put your order in on time! So the moral of the story is to get your facts straight before you start talking sh*t! Thanks and have a great day!
