A few months ago I made an offer on a condo at North Lake Condo Club. I was informed by the realtor that several owners had filed a lawsuit, on behalf of the HOA, against the builder for sub-standard construction. Needless to say, I rescinded the offer. Does anyone have any info on the specific construction issues? I have noticed a large number of units on the market. I was also told that Frankie's had gone out-of-business and there were no immediate plans on how the building would be used.

Look at Timberlake Townhouses in Madwind Creek. We have 9 units, very well built, I think 1 or 2 are for sale. You will like what you see.

It is sad what has happened to the industry. I have watched this trend developing over the last 30 years. Quality product is no longer the first and foremost purpose of construction companies of today. The order of importance is now as follows:

1. Build as fast as possible and as cheap (in quality, not necessarily in price) as possible. If this means cutting corners and using substand materials, so be it.

2. Deadline is important. Again might have to cut corners in order to make it.

3. Customers are important only as long as you are doing their work. When the job is over, any problems that arise is no longer any concern of the builder.

4. Any and all negotiations are out of the question. All things are fixed by contracts and lawyers.

5. Planning, recommendations, and advice are not part of any job description anymore.

6. Customer satisfaction isn't covered by contract.

Are a real plumber or is this just your handle- if real and in the Dadeville ( Manoy Creek )area, give me a shout- I have a small job for you. I did notice that no one answered the questions yet. I'm still trying to figure out why buy a condo when you can buy a whole house.

I can think of one big reason for a Condo. If I wanted a second home on the lake, I'd rather not have to deal with all the maintenance work when I'd rather just come and enjoy my time at the lake. If you set aside money for a house as is supposed to be done for a condo, the fees are a non-issue. That is me.

or Orange Beach, Gulf Shores etc NOT FOR LAKE MARTIN- they have and are ruining the look of Lake Martin

amen--buying a condo makes no sense--association fees you cant control & you only own your unit--no ground; i said it years ago--stacked condos are not viable at LM

I respectfully disagree. Of course, different strokes for different folks but the way I see it is: a condo offers great access to the water, no yard maintenance, access to a nice beach, pool and marina (with no maintenance required), and friendly people to socialize with. The fees are just part of the program to be able to spend more time enjoying the lake and amenities of the development without the hassle of maintenance.
