I ate BBQ and crow at the Red Hill Cottage Cafe last week. Has anyone else eaten there? If so click on the link, leave a reply on my blog and let everyone else know if you have a different take than I did...

what do you mean ? BBQ tasted like crow ?? could not disagree with you more--never had a bad meal there & we eat/order out 2-3 times weekly there

shhh...keep it a secret; but seriously, they are one of my favorites (since the Cactus Grill went in the dumpster with new owners), and I've been back several times. My mom and dad eat there more than at home! Great home cooked "green egg" food at very reasonable prices. Also try the Camp Stew, Turkey Sandwich, and hamburgers (when they offer them). Desert comes with every meal. They don't stay open late, so go for breakfast, lunch, or an early dinner (they often start running out of some items by 6pm). Closing time is 7pm. It's not high class, but they do a nice job. You order at the counter and can take out or find a table inside.

try meatloaf & chicken pot pie--i had a friend who ate chicken pot pie & reordered ! cactus grill is a disaster with new owners--ate there weekly for 2 years, but when new owners took over--bad ! rude waitresses, sloppy menu, etc, etc, etc--wish the old owners would come back ! anchor bay [ harbour docks] opening in 2 weeks

Had the meatloaf too; good, but I liked the BBQ and Turkey better. I'll have to try the pot pie. Agree 100% on Cactus Grill...Wetumpka is a little too far for me to go and see the old owners at their new place; I also wish they would come back and be "Eclectic".

You miss read John's Post -- He meant / stated he had to eat crow as his friend was right the BBQ was great.

Now go drink a beer and chill.

Was in the door and trim business before the restaurant business -- Maybe that's the problem. It's a real disappointment.

Red Hill so much I went back the next day and ordered 3 sandwiches. I guess bama alum didn't click through and read the post. Oh well.

I am going to go by one day for breakfast, but I have to wait until after my yearly physical! I plan to eat some sausage biscuits and I don't think they would help my high cholesterol.

Have the sausage and biscuits before your physical; then you will know if your body can handle the load!

I like your thinking there. Sorta like a "tolerance test".

Coaches' Corner on 231 right past the Key West Inn.

It may sound bad, but I do it every year. I'd rather know the worst case scenario over the best. The other way may make the doctor happier, but I want to know where I stand....of course the best thing would be to follow a low fat lean meat and veggie diet all the time, but that ain't happening anytime soon for me.

The former Catus Grill, now know as "The Grill" in on the main street in Eclectic, which I guess is actually 63. But, don't make the trip. I find the food greasy and it's just not very good anymore.

every year I go and every year they tell me I have slightly high cholesterol despite eating pretty fat free / low chol and and running 3x a week. Wife wants me to go on a statin but I think it will mess up my chi. I think, what would Bruce Lee do? He would just use his kung fu powers to lower it. Hasn't worked for me yet, though. Ha!
