1. I need a wider dock. Trying to cram an 8.5 foot wide, 25 feet long boat in a 9 foot wide slot with a quite technical last minute sharp angle - like putting an aircraft carrier in a closet.

2. I need those things from Overton's called Dock "fenders" (not bumpers) so I can bounce the boat more gently off the dock when I try that angle. I really entertained the neighbors.

3. I need a lift and covered dock. That snapping/un-snapping the cover every trip out around the rain is a pain.

4. I found my first marina - unfortunately, it was Bay Pines and closed apparently. Tried to find River North, but it eluded me and my map reading wife.

5. I need a GPS.

All in all a good weekend away for our first Memorial Day at the lake.

Great recap 4LL, join the party. I can add a "been there, done that" or "been there, and need to do that". I have entertained some folks with my boat maneuvers as well (still do, and I have been practicing since '96)

Welcome to the lake. It can rain, the wind can blow, the water can be up, the water can be down, the boat can run great, the boat can not crank, etc....No matter what, Lake Martin is a great place to be.

LOL - All very good and valid points.

Welcome to the lake !!!!

As to River North Marina, just go under the Hwy 280 Bridge and the marina is dead ahead on the left.

Swinner27, I got your email and replied 3 times with an error message on your address. I replied the first 2, then manully typed it in the third - all returned. You will either get 3 messages saying the same thing, or none and think I didn't respond, but I did 3 times. Let me know if you didn't get my mail. Thanks.

Come on down to the south end. Been on the lake since mid 60's, full time since 91 and the worse day at the lake is better than any in any town or city. The one thing to remember about rainy weekends is that on most of them there is probably some place on the lake where it is not raining. Monday was a good example, sunny most of the day until late afternoon. Got a little burn on our ride to the rock and around goat island. Traffic was not bad and company was good.

My definition of an old timer at the lake is someone sitting on their pier or deck laughing at the newbie doing the same things they did when they first came to the lake. Hey, I've been going to the lake for over 40 years, and I STILL have trouble docking boats.
