The above AL number is off of a pontoon boat that ran half throttle between my swim platform and the shoreline. I was anchored with my swim platform about 20 FEET from the shoreline. We were in a cove approx. 200 yards in diameter, what an idiot!
No wonder we have to have more laws, because some cannot and should not drive a boat. I am very glad my wife was not out there on a float at the time, she would likely be dead or maimed.

I have been wanting to get a swim platform, but I don't know what procedure you must follow. Do you have to get a permit from APCO, if so, I can't have one because they have told me don't even ask to put anything else either in or over the lake.
On the otherhand, if all you have to do is build it and anchor it, then I will gave one by the end of next week.
Can you have a series of swim platforms?

Neither idiocy (a lack of intelligence or foresight) nor absurdities are interesting. But we do know one must do as APCO says.

I better confirm this for Kizma, starboard is the right side of the boat, port is the left, the front is the bow and the rear is the stern. Sometimes if your really lucky you can find a boat that has this platform thing hanging off the back (stern) and you can actually jump off it and swim in the water. I think they call it a SWIM PLATFORM!!!!!

It is not "hard" to figure out. My appendages are longer than most, and consequently longer than I perceive them to be. (you probably have the opposite problem)
This causes problems in many endeavors. Such as typing. Sometimes when I reach for "H" I strike "G"
Maybe you should quit worrying about typo's (btw I can't spell all of the words I know, although I am sure that I can spell the 15 in your vocabulary)
Now that we have gotten the personal matters out of the way, tell us what kind of permitting you have for your "swim platform".
You should also give us all the GPS coordinates of the "swim platform" so we can be certain to not make the mistake of getting close to it. Some of us believe that the air and the water belong to everybody and are unaware of that portion of Lake Martin that you claim as your private domain. The GPS coordinates would make sure that I don't bring something bigger, faster and "badder" than a pontoon boat into your domain.

SORRY I DID NOT KNOW THEY MADE SUCH FOR THE HANDICAPPED.
REAL BOATS DON'T HAVE SUCH CRAP ON THE BACK. CAN'T YOU JUMP OF THE GUNNELS (OR EVEN THE DECK)
DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A HANDICAP STICKER TO GET ONE OF THESE SWIM PLATFORMS?

I always assumed that a floating dock was attached to a structure that was attached to the shore.
This brings me back to my original question. To have a swim platform, or a floating structure, that is moored like the one at the aforementioned web site, what permits, if any, are required.

I'm with you Kizma...Your website describes what I thought the original poster was referring to.
He said anchored with my swim platform...well if he was refering to stern swim platform attached to his boat.... is he ever anchored without the swim platform?
Can the op clarify what type of swim platform he was referring to?

My grandfather made us one of these when I was a little girl. We used it on Lake Lanier north of Atlanta. It was constructed the same as in the picture, but he added a little bench which held a battery and he added a trolling motor. We could then take this out into the center of the cove and get it back to the dock when we wanted. They use to have something similar to this at "The Blue Hole" in Pelham, AL back when it was open to the public. I have some fond memories of the swim platform. The only warning is make sure everyone does not stand on the same side at the same time unless they have improved the balance on these things. : )
