I'm having difficultiy in understanding why GM and Chrysler did not go into bankruptsy 3 months ago. The billions pumped to these companies by Obama and friends did nothing to avoid - only delayed.

The word 3 months ago from Obama and friends press conferences was that bankruptsy was not an option. Now, the message from the press conference today was that bankruptsy will be great for GM and Chrysler and the UAW members. They will be a stronger company. Bond holders - a different story.

Me thinks that Obama speaks with a forked tongue.

My prediction about GM and Chrysler: After 3 to 5 years of pumping tens of billions of dollars of the people's money into these losing ventures that will now owned by the unions (that doomed them in the first place) and the government (think postal service and Amtrak) the companies will be sold at a fire sale price to some lucky capitalist or competitor. GM and Chrysler sales will decline year in and year out as they build cars no one wants (read fuel efficient tin cans or overpriced hybrids) while Ford and foreign competitors like Toyota and Honda make further inroads in our market and the world markets.

Interesting to note by the way, a recent study by Harvard University indicated that more people are killed each year due to the current CAFE standards than have been killed in the Iraq War from the start. CAFE standards are met by lowering vehicle weight and the ratio between vehicle rate and fatalities is directly proportional. So for all you Messiah fans, take note of the fact that his brilliant fiat of increasing CAFE standards will kill more of your friends, neighbors and family members. This is something vehicle purchasers understand instinctively which is why GM and Chrysler lose money on their fuel efficient cars and make whatever profits they used to make on larger vehicles. Now our brain surgeon government employees want them to make more products that don't make a profit while at the same time killing more Americans.

There is a reason why a Jaguar built when the UK government owned the company could not get across a parking lot before breaking down. I await the usual Messiah apologists that will explain that the most wise and merciful Obama will somehow run counter to the history of the world and turn GM and Chrysler into dynamo's of industrial production. I am taking all bettors but bring your big bucks.........

The Oboma Admin has taken the American ideal of no discrimination of race, religion, sexual orientation etc on to it's ultimate conclusion. As long as one follows the Party Line, they don't even discriminate on the basis of ability.
