Interesting comments from a "neutral" newscaster from CBS during her speech to Princeton's Class of 2009. Would anyone think that Katie prefers Democrats?
“I understand Class of '54’s Donald Rumsfeld has been charged with guarding the Big Cannon. I don’t want to say he’s taking his job too far, but he’s reportedly been telling President Obama there are weapons of mass destruction hidden at Rutgers.”
“There may be some opportunities in the Republican Party. They’re still looking for an effective spokesman, and the only person they can find so far is Rush Limbaugh . . . and he won’t take the job because he doesn’t want to give up his prescription plan.”

I've raised this example before: why is Wanda Sykes, who makes her living as a comic, using hate speech (according to MM) when she says in a comedy monologue that Rush Limbaugh should get kidney disease but when Rush Limbaugh, an entertainer taken very seriously as a political commentator by many (including I suspect by you) calls the 12 year old daughter of the President a dog it is dismissed as harmless banter?

I sure do. One was a joke, perhaps in poor taste, but a JOKE about a personality who invites controversy every day by spouting outrageous rants on the public airwaves. The other was a mean spirited comment aimed to belittle a President who the speaker hated via a tasteless and hurtful remark against his completely innocent 12 year old daughter. Do you have a daughter?

Don't be so smug and arrogant, If it is said as a joke it's a joke. If it is said to be hurtful to an innocent bystander' and a child at that, to get in a political smack down of a third party it's something else entirely. It seems even something as blinded by the right wing noise machine as you could admit that! It is the growing mean spirited attitude of the far right as much as anything else that is sending them further and further into the political wilderness and is fast isolating them to the old Confederacy and a few areas of the mountain west. And again, do you have a daughter?

To do that post justice. "Smug and Arrogant," pot/kettle. Mean spirited right wing- treatment of Sara Palin comes to mind. Back to the Cofederacy Days- Must you be reminded the South was predominately Democrats in those days. And finally, do I have a daughter- Yes, a lovely one and if called a "dog," I would assume the person making that statement would be referring to a cute little Yorkie. Of course, that's just how I think. You know the old "glass half full" philosophy.

Ecactly my point!!!!! If it is so bad against Sarah Palin or Rush Limbaugh or Carl Rove or some other Republican etc etc, why is it OK against Bill Clinton or Nancy Pelosi or for heaven sake the 12 year old daughter of a Democrat? Do you people even know the meaning of HYPOCRISY?
