Made my 1st trip to La Posada's (sp?), this weekend in Dadeville and it was a great dining experience. Good food, the service was excellent and the manager came by twice to make sure all was well. I sure hope they make it because I have a bi-weekly craving for Mexican food. Oh yeah, my wife and sister thorouhhly enjoyed the Margaritas. I had to drive so I can't comment on the alcholic beverages.

Ditto.

Myself/wife and friends have eaten there several times and everything is excellent.

thank you for the dining reviews. Which restaurant will you review next week? Can you report on "Springhouse" at Russell Crossroads? Thank you

I have two MINOR complaints with La Posada. One is the blandness of the food. It's well prepared and their chicken is particularly tasty, but I wish they would spice it up a bit. Not necessarily hotter, but just some spice.

The other is about the service. Most of the times when DH and I go, the restaurant is not particulary busy and the service can be a bit overbearing. I do like to get in two bites before I have to respond to their inquiries if I want more Coke. In fairness, they are always polite and I have never gone away feeling that they didn't appreciate our business.

On the positive side, the house guacamole is very good. And the night we took some guests there, we were serenaded before we left, complete with sombreoes (hats).

Exactly my opinion. Food just a little bland, and (its hard to complain about), the service is a little overboard.
Will eat there again, definitely, though.

Ask for some hot sauce

They do provide it. But, hotter is not the same as spicier.

it's overpriced if you haven't been there? Overpriced implies that it is too expensive for what they serve.
I suspect what you are saying is that it is more expensive than you chose to pay.

Why would you "suspect" I haven't been there? Went to Catherine's then, my wife and I had the Springhouse Shrimp and grits. Food was good but, in my humble opinion, overpriced. Just a personal opinion Hound, nothing more, nothing less. Do you have ownership in the establishment?

Of course I don't.
I'm wondering why you didn't say that you had been there and thought it overpriced. I assumed from the way you made the statement that you had, perhaps, just looked at the online menu and decided it was overpriced.

But, I would be interested to hear what you thought about the food and service other than the price. I haven't been there yet.

As you know, there are people here that just hate anything to do with Russell Lands, and would pass a negative view no matter what, but I didn't remember you as part of that group.

I have no dog in that fight. I try to confine my worries to those issues which I have some control over and I certainly have no control over Russell Lands. As I mentioned, my wife and I had the Shrimp And Grits, lunch portion, and although it was very good, I remember seeing some items on the menu that seemed extremely overpriced. For instance, they had a Sirloin Steak for $20.00. Not only was I surprised at the price, I have always considered Sirloin as the cheapest cut of steak and wondered why they didn't have a filet, ribeye or New York Strip. I haven't tried any of the other entrees and probably won't go back. Almost all of the entrees are north of $20.00 and we're not talking Lobster and Caviar. I have no problem paying those prices at certain Restaurants in Atlanta that, in my opinion, have far superior quisine. Just one man's opinion.

The food doesn't seem to be cooked with enough onions, chiles, adobo and the like so it comes off as bland even if you fire it up with some Melindas.

I still go there because the quality of the food is tops and yes the service can be a little too intrusive but hey! it's Mexican amigo! I sure hope it stays open.

With all of the places with mediocre or terrible service that exist out there, I would have a really hard time criticizing anybody's service as being overbearing! I say "FANTASTICO, SENOR!"

Also, I've made several trips to various places in Mexico and my chief complaint about the real authentic Mexican food has always been that it is too bland. It is the Americanized Mexican chains like Taco Bell, Habaneros, and Chipolte Grill that have us expecting a more spicy Mexican fare. When things are too mild for me, I usually ask for a side order of jalapeno peppers and then I can control the heat.

But then AnchorBayMartha can be seen driving me home as it always takes margueritas to extinguish the blaze!

That's because you went to all the fancy places in Mexico :-)

I've never known Mexican food to be bland. They actually use a broad array of spices in their cooking to include Mexican oregano and cumin, as well a broad spectrum of chilies, from mild to hot. I'm not an "expert" on Mexican cooking, but I know what I like. And it's not bland.

I think a lot of people confuse hotness and spiciness. As far as what makes for great service, I don't think greatness involves interrupting my conversation every two minutes, asking me if everything is okay. But, I can live with it.
