AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA
Dear President Obama:
You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.
You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.
You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.
You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.
You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.
You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core..
You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.
You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.
You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America ' crowd and deliver this message abroad.
You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.
You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.
You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.
You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.
You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.
You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.
You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.
You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.
You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.
You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.
You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.
Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Because you don't think its true or you don't agree with him? I totally agree with his points and think that they speak for a lot of Americans. Your response is totally inadequate and it begs the question as to whether it hits too close to home for a conservative middle of the roader that decided to waste their vote on Obama.

do you disagree it was written or the points made? I think it is right on the mark and share many of the same feelings as I know many others do as well. what do you specifically think is a bunch of crap ... other than Obama himself.

Okay, since you asked nicely, I will tell you the specific points I think are crap and totally baseless -- couldn't show one specific example that it is true:
Never run a company -- true, but the "idolized" Ronald Reagan never did either, nor did Bill Clinton nor did JFK. And he has a number of advisors who have.
Never had Military experience -- true, but never did W, or Bill Clinton.
Highest standard of living -- well document fact that US does not have THE highest standard of living in the world.
Pursuing policies and spending that his own party doesn't support -- not true.
Demonize and try to silence Rush, etc -- absolutely no indication that this is happening. Give me one example where he has "silenced" these guys. They are still on every day.
Omnipotent and omnifiscent -- No indication that he thinks this at all. Give me one example where he has said or done something that supports this.
Now if the author has written this as an opinion piece - fine.
But I notice that the author offers no specific ideas about what Obama is doing that is wrong or what the author would do differently. He has offers no IDEAs. And IMHO, that is what is wrong with the "loyal opposition".

Regarding private experience: I wonder what these guys think of Harry Truman. He had 2 stints in private business as a farmer and retail men's store owner. He was an abject failure at both. He got into politics through a corrupt political machine. Today he is consistantly rated by most conservatives and liberals and those in between as in the top 10 Presidents. You judge a man's life and accomplishments by a retrospective look at what he has done, not by what a few people with agendas claim he will do.

because I believe the country was on the wrong track and as far as I could see, McCain had no IDEAS about how to get it back on track. Hence my problems with the Republicans and all these people who would criticize Obama. I keep hearing criticism of Obama and fear mongering, but I don't see anyone coming up with alternate proposals or new ideas to debate.
I watch Morning Joe most mornings. Joe Scarborough is a conservative Republican who served in Congress. He consistently makes more sense to me than any Republican currently sitting in a legislative position. He's written a new book "the Last Great Hope" concerning conservatism. I really want to read it.
One of the things he said this morning that I totally agree with -- is that Republicans have to get social issues off their platforms and get on with Constitutional conservatism.
If Republicans don't stop blaming Obama and get some new IDEAs out there, they don't have a chance. It's easy to say what's wrong with what the other guy is doing; but it's much, much harder coming up with actionable ideas. And please, don't anyone post that the Democrats are keeping them from doing it -- that's just a lot of HOGWASH.

You would have to ask Venezuelans if they think they are better off now. I hear a lot about Hugo Chavez, but I don't know what the Venezuelans think about him. (Sorry if I've misspelled the word for "people of Venezueala.)
I still haven't seen Obama put any changes into effect. They've been talked about, but nothing has happened yet, so how can we judge if it is for the bad or for the good?
In general, people don't like change. In fact, they fear it. I'm told one of the first signs of old age is when you think that everything is going to h*ll in a handbasket.

really think we (as a country) are better off with the policies and actions that Obama has implemented so far. Everything is to take more from people and give government more power, as well as reduce the national security and safety of the US.

Maybe it's all the years I worked in Washington, but I tend to filter out the words and look at what actually gets done.

As I've posted before I voted for McCain in the 2000 primary. Had he run with the same faith of his convictions in '08 rather than selling his soul to the same extremists he had condemned in 2000 and had he not compounded his kow-towing by selecting Palin as his running mate he might have been able to make a run for my vote. I didn't and don't agree with some of Obama's "agenda" but as a person of character he is in my mind head and shoulders above the John McCain of 2008.

lets start with his budget, buying 72% of GM, capping and controlling executive pay, energy policy or lack there of (look at oil prices in a weak economy), higher taxes on businesses and individuals. It is not just marginal rates it is the phase out and elimination of deduction that raise the effective rate. An $800 billion stimulus plan that is doing zero and will continue to do so. It adds more government that we will continue to pay for year after year and for every government job it takes 4 to 5 private sector jobs to pay for it and that grow is not happening.
Closing of Gitmo.
Proposed national health plan.
Refusal to expand cost effective and safe nuclear power and focusing on wind mills and solar that are fine for supplements but can not provide the type of power demands this country has without oil, coal or nuclear.
Then there is apologizing for the US, accepting books from socialists, bowing to the kind of SA.
On and on ... there has been ZERO job growth (all he talks about he is saving jobs, his programs are not creating jobs), interest rates are rising (lack of buyers of debt), inflation is heating up, we are on the verge of having the country's debt downgraded, the dollar is plunging.
We are headed back to the Carter years of stagflation, and probably oil lines.
BTW, who does higher energy prices hurt the most? The people BO claims to want to help. I guess he will let government subsidize that too and let people like you and I pay for them too.
