is anyone else sick of reading about food? most of the post are self-serving and made by proprietors or their flunkies.

responses, favorable or unfavorable, generally just help the jerks, who should be buying advertising.

reviews, comments and announcements should be relegated to the off-topic forum

I have never looked at the Off-Topic forum. I enjoy the restaurant posts, so I hope they stay here.

I enjoy reading the restaurant critiques. I don't have any "ownership, etc" in any eateries on the lake.

I enjoy reading about the various food places. Gives me some insight to what is going on. Maybe you could not read those posts. I don't read a post if it doesn't interest me.

Keep it here. Off-topic is filled with political venom and little else.

My thoughts exactly on the content off Off-Topic....maybe we need a "Political Venom" page too.

I like to read what people say about dining experiences. It should stay here. Where would you put it? Should we have separate forums for everything? I don't think so. Restaurants deal with the "Lake Martin" topics....and I've been looking at this too long because I could not remember how to spell restaurant. It still looks strange.. but I looked in the WDW with Kids for 2009 and that's how they spelled it.

Off-topic has turned into the "political" topic and that's OK. I enjoy the "venting". I could never get into the loop because they would drag me through the mud-pile before I even "typed" one word, because I don't have ninehundredandninety-nine facts behind me to support my position, but that's OK.

A Restaurant Reviews forum.

Just a thought.

My thought is the restaurants that are being reviewed are at Lake Martin so it should be on Lake Martin topics. I don't think the number of posts here exceeds daily readabilty so dividing content further would not provide benefit. Restaurant reviews may be frequent now, but it's early summer and as we've seen, the trends on the forum will change.

I'm really glad the Off-Topic forum took unrelated topics away from this one. That worked out well. However the my intent was never for it to become a place for political discussion 90% of the time. It's just how that turned out. That is just fine with me. It's just the type of audience we have and that is great. However I do think that political discussion is not the type of information people are looking for in a lake site. Remember that if it is a Lakes Online forum (not Lake Martin Specific) that other lake people can read it.

I've added a "Grilling & Recipes" forum for topics that are not specific to Lake Martin. I see where people like to discuss how they cook and what they cook on and this would provide the overflow for those topics and be of interest to people on other lakes too. This new forum is not intended for local restaurant reviews.

Two other forums I belong to have a recipe forum and it works out great.

Just keep it here. It is LM related, as these are all possibilities for full-time lake residents and weekenders. There are not that many eating places to talk about, so a separate forum might get lonely. Just enforce the no "toot your own horn" rule, whether the advertiser is a friend of the forum or not.

Leave restaurant comments right here. I find them valuable and don't look at other areas of the Forumdue to the fact that I regrettably have to work for a living and don't have a lot of time to surf about.

My vote is to keep restaurants here. They are one of the most interesting subjects to me. Unfortunately the “Off-Topic” forum has turned into a “Trash Forum”. I would vote for a “Political Venon” forum to be by itself, but I’m OK with it where it is.
