Decent investment at the current prices ($210,000 for 1200+ 2 bed, 2 bath units) or a potential disaster for recent buyers? We have had a house on the lake since 2005 and have some friends seriously considering Crowne Pointe that have asked our opinion. I've told them I have no clue but wonder what some of the board experts think.

I'm not an expert on Crown Pointe, but I'd be very cautious. If I was ever going to buy into a condo association, I'd make sure it was stable and had a track record of good management and all financial aspects of the association were in order (There are several on the lake that are not). I have seen people get burned when they didn't perform the needed due diligence in these areas and then consider them in their purchase. Don't rely on verbals from the seller or Realtor either... get everything in writing and consider an independent accountant to do the evaluation if there is any hint of potential problems.

I don't know if this condo is the one but was told of a Condo developement that has some unfinished aspects and has major issues with the sewerage system. If this is true the member owners could be hit with a major major cost to have a sewerage system corrected.

Whole place is in bankruptcy. Each building is a different corporation, I heard, which will compound the problems. Sewer problems, drainage problems, etc. Watch out. Your friend probably doesn't need those kind of problems. This dump would not be a deal at $100K.

Wix, I am not sure were you are getting this information from. Where are you hearing this from. What are names of each corporation that each building is owned by?

I am not sure of all the facts but don't you think is was not in compliance with sewage the county would shut it down.

When I had my home built a few yrs ago the county was involved throughout the whole septic process.
