How many lake home owners have a friend or family member who thinks your lake house is theirs and all it takes to have an invite is for you to be there? Who is raised that way? "Ya'll gonna go to the lake this weekend? I think Sunday works best for us." It's hard when its in laws.

Not sure that this will go over well but charge them room and board.

We often invite friends and family and we enjoy the company, but have never had anyone take advantage of the situation.

We bought the place so people could come visit, especially family. It is nice every now and then to be by ourselves, but then we miss them.

Hey Cat, you tell me. Filet, ribs, chicken, cedar planked salmon, spam...if your fixin the boat, you can choose the menu.

Back to the issue at hand. My favorite is when they show up with a hot six pack of beer, a bag of chips and a 2 liter Sam's choice cola. They "borrow" a beer from you while theirs is getting cold in your ice. By the end of the weekend they have drank all your beer, eaten all your food, helped in running all the gas out of your boat, broken at least 2 chairs and one wine glass, and right before they leave one of them says..."honey look, we didn't even open this cola, be sure to put it back in the car."

AHH, the pleasures of Lake Martin ownership...I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

I don't care who you are. Sounds exactly like my oldest son. He will ask several couples up and each will bring a six pack and drink a case and a half. The last time, I had close to a full tank of gas in the boat. When I came the next weekend, I went to fill up at Chuck's and put 39.8 gallons in a 40 gallon tank. I know, I know, that's a "me" problem.

Freinds Welcome Anytime, Family by Appointment Only. Been my policy for YEARS.

Two weeks ago I had a sister, her daughter, and her three daughters here. Talk about estrogen overload for a terminally single guy. But they were a BIG hit with all the neighbors even the new 10 yo boy that moved into a rental on Sunday before they arrived on Tuesday. He thought he had moved to heaven with a 13 and 11 yo girls two houses down....lol.

Funny thing is, I seemed to have a LOT more of my buddies stop by that week. Go figure. Five beautiful women ranging from 5 to 55 attracting male attention. Whoda figured? lol

Funny, but one of our old neighbors use to complain about the same thing. I painted them a pillow for their outdoor swing. It says" gas, cash or hard labor, no one plays for free. ". They LOVE the pillow because they can display it and say" oh, our neighbor made that for us". My pillow says " you are going home Sunday aren't you? Humor is always a good medicine!

LOVE IT !!!!!

I need one of those pillows as I was just telling my children last weekend an hour of work at the Lake or B'ham equates to an hour of lake time.

So I need one of those pillows or signs as a reminder to children and visitors.
